To Follow Follow and boycott-the dilemna

The words of the Rangers fans Football anthem are surely to be tested to the nth degree over the coming weeks and months, and quite possibly for the next few years if some have their way.

Follow Follow we will Follow Rangers.

Everywhere anywhere WE WILL FOLLOW ON.

It stirs the blood of each and every Rangers fan each time it's sung and is a stick out your chest with pride anthem when sung in unison by thousands of Rangers fans every game Rangers play.

Unashamedly i even have it as my ring tone on my personal phone.

It is the way that Scottish Football has collectively,as a whole, went for the throat of Scotland's Premier Club at a time of it being at it's most vulnerable that really sticks in the craw of every Rangers fan.

The fact that the vengeance has reached an unequalled level has not been lost on most Rangers fans.

The ferocity of it,however, has been of such an extent that it will take the game in Scotland a long long time to recover from it with some saying it may very well never recover.

Which brings to mind the fans anthem again.

The song has been sung for years and Rangers fans have lived and breathed the words throughout Europe as they followed the trials and tribulations of their Club in all competitions win, lose or draw but such has been the anger at the way Rangers have been attacked in all forms of media and from other forums that Rangers fans now are at war with themselves over the very words of their own anthem.

They want revenge and they want it in the worst way.

Down through their 140 year history Rangers have helped keep Scottish Football afloat with the size of their travelling support.

"We will Follow on".

So the anger at the way they have been chastised by certain SPL Clubs has a certain justification in their eyes but along with it comes the dilemna in the words of their own anthem.

To deny the team their vocal support away from home,to let the team know that they are not alone and thousands of Bears are with them every bit of the way.

That is the question thousands of Rangers fans are now asking.

Do we follow through with the boycott or was it an empty threat due to the love of Follow Follow and Following the team they Love?

In the end you,the Rangers fan, will do what you deem is appropriate on all of this mess and in truth none of you will be wrong.

Just remember who did and said what and we will all be winners in this charade.

Follow Follow we will Follow Rangers.

Just not everywhere anymore.

In the end just being able to see the Rangers is what it all comes down to and that the Club prospers is of the utmost importance to all of us.

Well, a touch on the dramatic side, methinks. It will be some time till Rangers come into a position where the talk of an away support boycott may return. League or SFA Cup at the earliest. Methinks the players and management will sure understand if the stands are empty. But I would assume that a one off, e.g. at a televised cup final, will cause much more "political bedlam" than any half-done boycott, which I do not envisage anyway ... as much as I would hope it would occur at various occasions.

On the other hand, removing the travelling support money would either force diddy teams to buck up their ideas and stand on their own two feet, presumably improving the game, or cause them to fold, the league goes semi-pro and we can get away from the haters.

How are the "diddy" teams supposed to stand upon 500 fans per game and a life-support from the SPL? In Scotland it is us who could give the small clubs at least some cash to flourish, stand on their own feet, develope the sport in their home town and ... be grateful to the club and support who brought them this. Instead of remaining backwater know-nos who hate the bigger clubs and stagnate themselves.

That said, I for one am all for a boycott of the SPL teams - bar Ross County perhaps.

Just as food for thought.

Absolutely correct. There is an important distinction be drawn here between the SFL clubs that have behaved properly and the lynch mob in SPL who couldn't wait to stick the boot in. We are in the SFL and it's too our advantage if we can get them on side. No boycotts for them, no crowd trouble and a hefty increase in the bank balance every time that we come to town to support our team. This is about rebuilding and doing the right thing in a manner that Bill Struth and the other great managers who shaped the history of Rangers would approve of.

As for the current crop of SPL clubs, well they are on their own. They made their bed and we shouldn't have to pay for it. Boycott them to hell.
