Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread

Recommended Posts

And there are people on here who reckon they could do a better job - I can't imagine they'd even know where to start; I wouldn't either but can imagine most wouldn't know how to even start to put together a fitness programme that includes a balance of anaerobic, CV, plyometrics, flexibility (what does PNF stand for?), agility and other stuff I don't know about (although I'm sure SuperAlly on here would be in his element).

 ally has specialised people to put together fitness programmes. that has never been allys job.

And imagine your average Joe walking onto a training pitch of professional players and telling them how to play football... Just how would they take it?

 now this, this is a manager job. they are supposed to command respect. players are supposed to listen and learn from their mangers. its the managers job to decide how the players will play the game.

And think of the leadership skills where the likes of Sandaza would be told he's dropped because he's the worst striker that this new manager has seen...

why would any manager feel the need to say that to a player? just how stupid do you think ally or any manager is?

and then bringing up mccullochs weight which isnt even a issue.

and to think someone agreed and thanked you for that post. incredible.

Ah but he's put us back 10 years! (I have no idea how a manager can do that - it took Souness one season to correct a decade of neglect.)

Imagine telling McCulloch he needs to "lose two stone" even though it's highly unlikely he has two stone of fat on his body in total...

But then after their first draw with a "bunch of postmen" they'd be calling for themselves to be sacked anyway.

Who on here thinks they could do a better job than McCoist? What a mental statement to come away with.

i could win the sfl3 but not by as many points as super.

my team would play more football.

hes the better choice for manager. i couldnt win sfl1 and maybe not sfl2.

How would you get them to play more football? These guys are professional footballers remember, and will like to think they know how to play football... What knowledge of playing the game do you have to draw on?

The thing about McCoist is that when I've heard him talk about football he comes across as incredibly knowledgeable and insightful - far better than most pundits. When I see the likes of Alan Hansen or Gordon Strachan analysing the teams on the telly, they seem to see stuff I didn't see at all but can see it after they draw their circles on the screen.

Would you know how to train them, how to assess them, how to motivate them and how to man manage them? Do you know much about plyometrics, PNF stretching, target heart rates, VO2Max and other stuff that most people are oblivious to?

How would you deal with a big personality who thinks he knows better than you? (Which would probably be all of them unless you can instill some respect.)

What is your experience as a manager and your record of success? Can we come and watch your team win and play excellent football?

Gs would get them to play more football by telling them to do more wee passes n that. Move into space more. Look for the ball. Make yourself available. Always press the ball when not in possession.

All stuff that ally has never heard of. Ffs.

in my experience profesional players know better than anyone how to play football and play it properly. ive played 5's with a few over the years and even hard man midfielders and center halfs can play great stuff.

i would simply encourage them to do so and replace them if they couldnt.

ally should be able to do that and so much more he was a talented player himself.

football and i mean pass and move etc really is extremely easy. players do it from the age of 3 for dozens of hours a week. weve seen a great improvement in that recently at rangers. it just wories me that et again we have slipped back to mediocrity and long ball football.

thats far to often been the case under super.

they all know how to do it and for that matter they all can do it. i would just ensure they did or i would find another of our 60 odd players who could.
