Following recent press reports and consequent follow up enquiries, Dundee United confirm that the outstanding sums due from the Scottish Cup tie played at Ibrox Stadium last season have still not been paid.

This matter now rests with the football authorities and no further comment will be made by the Club.

question is who by us or the sfa.

And guess who jumped to the Breaking News (nearly) first?

BTW, Green said that Rangers have paid 500k to the Hooped Horrors, Hearts, and the SFA to settle all debts with them. Unless I am mistaken, the money to the SFA includes the money still owed to DU, as it was a Cup game under their jurisdiction. Maybe Regan's lot wanted to grab some interest first? Or DU thought that the money they got from the SFA was their due from the SFA anyway?

BBC reported earlier that "Furthermore, the club was given a written commitment from the SPL [scottish Premier League] in May that it would settle an outstanding debt to Dundee Utd." so assuming we have that in writing, the debt to Dundee Utd has been paid by us and is simply being held up by the SPL. What a surprise there!

Charles Green has correctly been praised for his comments to those lining up for season tickets.

He is to be admired for that but there are bigger tests to come and the first one has now arrived on his doorstep in the form of Dundee United claiming we still owe them cash from a Cup game played last season.

Charles used the club website to inform us that “as of now” we do not owe anything to Scottish clubs but the Dundee United claim refutes that.

It may be the money is in transit, it may be delayed by action, or lack of action, by the SFA or others, it may be it is not due till a later date or the Dundee United claim may be factual. Whatever the situation clarification is essential.

Addressing fans waiting for tickets is admirable but Charles needs to make a statement today demolishing the United claim or explaining why the funds have not reached them.

The fact that the the BBC have used the United claim as a golden opportunity to again appraise the world of other debts outwith Scotland they say we have not paid is a reminder for Charles that every avenue of innuendo and obfuscation will be used to demonise the club.

Recent days have seen bravura performances from Charles addressing fans but today we need a statement to top top all of them or he risks losing much of his recently acquired credibility.

good post from the ever eloquent carino on this.
