Preview for the cup final ...

The Road to Toryglen - an "Old Firm" Henson Cup Final preview

The quite successful season of the Rangers Girls u15s draws to a close this Saturday, when the Henson Youth Cup Final is on the agenda. After seeing off the Deeside Girls (9-0), Spartans (10-2), Dundee United Sports Club (Quarter Final, 7-0) and finally Letham Girls (Semi Final, 3-1), the stage is set for an "Old Firm" final at the Toryglen Football Center, not that far away from old Third Lanark's Cathkin Park, and Hampden, of course.

The girls have been in fine form this season, keeping a 100% record throughout the 20-game run towards the championship title, scoring a staggering 134 goals, conceeding just 10. Ties against Celtic have been comfortable, with our u15s beating Celtic in March 6-1 at home, while the return leg in September ended 4-1 on our soil. But cup games always tend to be different, so the u15s know that everything is required to make it a fine 2012 Double.

The "Youth Football Scotland" website keeps you up to date with the events, both of previous rounds as well as upcoming games, with one reporter (twitter-mobile at the ready) sure bearing witness to the game.

Peter Kennedy is bound to keep to his line-up of recent weeks, with the Rangers team of the day coming from this squad:

1. Murren Stevenson, 2. Sarah Clelland, 3. Rachel Ross, 4. Niamh Johnson, 5. Heather Magill, 6. Claire Adams, 7. Dana Baird, 8. Erin Cuthbert, 9. Megan Mason, 10. Sarah Robertson, 11. Chantelle Brown, 12. Alex Middleton, 13. Amy Hiddletson, 14. Shannon McNichol, 15. Megan Felgate, 16. Mairi McIver, 17. Paige Frame, 21. Lauren Wilkes

The stage is set, the orchestra ordered, now let's see whether the Bearettes can sing again:

Title decider tonight, another Old Firm game, this time the Rangers Girls (u17s) are in the limelight:

West/South West 17's League - 09 Nov 12, 19:00

Celtic 17s vs Rangers 17s

League Table

Rangers - Pld. 15 - F 93 A 13 Pts. 43

Celtic Pld. 14 - F 102 A 14 Pts. 39

This game was postponed earlier in the season and Celtic still have a game in hand over the Bearettes too. The first game in May finished 3-1 in favour of Rangers, but the girls from beyond the Clyde were as prolific as the Rangers team. The defeat against Rangers was the only tie where they dropped points, while we dropped just 2 points during the season so far in a 1-1 draw at home to the Glasgow Girls.

BTW ... got a discomforting info that the re-arranged match tonight may put our two sides on a double-disadvantage. By the SWFL's rules "no doomestic games shall be played three day's prior to a cup date". it appears to be in Celtics best interest to play this game tonight as Rangers U17s rely on some of the u15s. We'll try to check this out.

From our rather excited twitterer: Rangers Ladies FC ‏@RangersLadies

Great attendance here tonight at Barrowfield.. Approx 200 people here :)

1-0 Celtic

2nd half

Rangers dominating play but final ball still disappointing.

Howatt off, Mason on!

Celtic with attack but pressure from the defence results in Brown catching easily

Karagiozis booked after a deliberate trip from behind after losing the ball in the centre cirlce

Penalty claim for Rangers after Karagiozis blatantly elbowed in the face. Nothing given.

Karagiozis remains down and looks in pain after the blatant elbow

25mins

Substitution: Karagiozis off after that horrible foul, MacLean on

Cuthbert now down after ANOTHER foul by the same player, yet again. Nothing done about it!

20 mins to play. Rangers continue to dominate.

Brilliant tackle from Johnstone to shut down the attack

Cuthbert like Ronaldo skins three, releases to Halliday who beats 2 but a left footed shot safely caught by the Celtic keeper. Still 1-0

Some bad tackles, yes! Knox been taken away in ambulance

Fantastic work from Traynor but Celtic continue to be solid at the back
