Probably should have had that penalty awarded too. You're right though, Benfica are ahead of us but when you think how recently Rangers adopted a professional standing and how far we've come in that short time, I think the club can feel justified in its investments.

Benfica was for the women what Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax are for the men. Truth be told, the group stages might have turned into routs every other week. But given where we were a couple of years ago, we are sure moving in the right direction.

Today, Rangers Ladies are playing at Tynecastle in the League Cup final against Hibs.

 

The game is currently being shown live on Sky Sports. Rangers are leading 1-0, courtesy of a Lizzy Arnot 25 yard screamer.

Hibs not really threatening other than the odd ball over the top. Rangers high press ensures lots of space in behind for Hibs to run into.

Howat's been on 5 minutes and hit the bar with a screamer and now has just drilled one into the bottom corner of the net.

Wonder strikes from Lizzie Arnot and Kirsty Howat in either half secured the trophy for Rangers Ladies.

 

Well done to the Broomloan Collective, a hundred or so young Bears kept the drums going and sang Rangers songs, brought a bit of atmosphere to a cold Tynecastle.
