Bill McMurdo - Questions The SPL And SFA Must Answer

Recommended Posts

My recent blog on questions directed at the Scottish footballing authorities and their media lapdogs proved popular so I thought I would ask some more.

These questions are in reference to this weekâ??s momentous hearing into Rangersâ?? use of EBTs.

Here goes:-

1) If Rangers use of EBTs is deemed a punishable offence that results in potential stripping of titles, will this be on the basis that players paid using EBTs and/or other off-book ways were retrospectively deemed to be improperly registered?

2) How would this affect individual games played in by these â??unlawfully registeredâ? players i.e. are the points won forfeited or a fixed penalty result imposed e.g. a 3-0 scoreline against Rangers?

3) How does this then affect league tables and do teams relegated during the seasons in question have a right to compensation due to any retrospective punishment imposed on Rangers? Same for cup games â?? do teams beaten by Rangers in cup competitions have a right to appeal any loss of prize monies etc?

4) Does the â??unlawful registrationâ? then affect any European games played in by players deemed to be not registered and how does this affect the competitions those players played in? Do teams in Europe who played Rangers then have a right to appeal any potential loss of prize money for the seasons in question? Same for international games i.e. does the unlawful registration of Rangers players whilst on international duty render these international matches void and do the national teams who played these players have a case to answer for fielding them? Including Scotland, if affected?

5) Are UEFA and FIFA aware of these ramifications and what are their respective views?

6) If both European and international games are affected, how does this impact on the coefficients for club teams and the Scotland side?

7) Are there any Rangers players who would lose their place in the Hall of Fame due to being improperly registered while playing for Scotland and thus, presumably, â??losingâ? those games on their record?

8) If Rangers are stripped of trophies, will winners medals be requested from players involved and what if these players refuse to return them?

9) Has any consideration been given to the appalling fallout any decision to strip RFC of titles won on the pitch would have on the careers of the players and backroom staff involved?

10) If Rangers are stripped of titles and some of the players involved decide to take the matter to court, does the SPL have the funds to resource a long and costly court battle?

11) Are both the SFA and SPL completely confident that no other team in Scotland under their jurisdiction has produced side-letters or paid players â??off-bookâ? in any way, shape, size or form and if so, since what date?

12) If other teams are subsequently found to be guilty of paying players off-book will they be punished severely or will Rangers have any punishment rescinded if the issue is more widespread than just Rangers?

13) Since the licencing of football agents began have any member clubs used the services of an unlicenced agent in the signing of players? If so, does this render the players concerned unlawfully registered and if not, why not? I am not referring to people who are allowed to act on behalf of players without requiring to be licenced but to those people acting as agents without an official FIFA or national FA licence.

14) What exactly is the purpose of this hearing into Rangersâ?? use of EBTs and side letters? On what basis would you want to impose punishments on the new company and board that run Rangers Football Club when any misdemeanours were committed by the previous regime? Do you see punishments as a deterrent? How do you justify this? Administration and liquidation are not paths gone down unless a business is in trouble. They ARE the punishment in that respect. And who would take punishment of Rangers as a warning and deterrent? Anyone thinking of putting their club into administration? Do you not see the stupidity of this? Do you accept that punishing Rangers any further is thus either foolish or spiteful?

15) If Rangers were stripped of titles, what would happen to those titles? Would they be voided for the seasons involved or given to the runners-up?

I am happy to provide clarification if any of these questions are not fully understood and will report promptly if any are answered by anyone at the SFA or SPL.

These questions are, I am sure, of great interest to football fans in Scotland and answering them will provide transparency and openness to a controversial situation.

All in the interest of sporting integrity, of course.

SFA & SPL Still Corrupt? PDF Print E-mail

As with our previous exclusive of the 23rd of August where we told you of the Scottish Premier League being unable to pay the SCOTTISH LEAGUE their money which was due at the start of the month, and by coincidence was paid later that day in full for the instalment due, it would appear that they and the Scottish Football Association are now miffed as to where this information came from. With this in mind we find it strange that as yet the new S.P.L board elections which were held around the same time have yet to be confirmed to the media or general public. We would therefore pose the question to the appropriate group and their press people why have they withheld this information from us as again seeing as transparency is supposedly their watchword.

VB Admin have been reliably informed that senior employees of bookmaker William Hill were astounded to hear that S.P.L Chairman Ralph Topping, who in May declared that he was stepping down from his position as a board member of the S.F.A due to pressure of work, HAS IN FACT BEEN RE-ELECTED TO THE BOARD.

One wonders if this is a direct snub to the SFL as last year for the first time in the history of the game no representative was on the board. Our source also informed me that William Hill were dismayed at Topping taking up the position again after the problems caused by the Rangers meltdown and commercially it made no sense. After further research on this matter at a private meeting with a disgruntled member of staff, a member of VB Admin was informed that the S.F.A were out to show who runs Scottish football and that the people who opposed them would be kept out of office. At this point our man was told that Campbell Ogilvie was reminded of his support by the rest of the board over his involvement in the Rangers EBT case and did in fact give his casting vote against the Football League official. If this is the case - and we wait for clarification from the ruling body - we would ask the following:

· Did Ralph Topping indeed stand down as was widely reported in the media or was this in fact a smoke screen at the time as pressure was being put on William Hill's by Rangers fans?

· Would the S.F.A MAKE PUBLIC HIS RESIGNATION LETTER as this would indeed clear the matter up?

· What is scaring you so much that you have to close ranks and persuade or coerce a chairman who resigned through pressure of work only four months ago to take on a position once again?

· Are the S.F.A really so corrupt as to keep S.F.L members off the board as they and their member clubs had the audacity to go against your plans for Rangers in the first division?

Would it not make sense to have the thirty other clubs represented on the S.F.A? Or is it the case as was reported to us that a boastful, power hungry and ambitious adjutant in the corridors of power stated that the S.F.L WILL BE DEAD BY THE END OF THE SEASON AND THE RECONSTRUCTION WILL GO AHEAD?

Transparency and sporting integrity being the most important thing in the game today, will you answer these questions to the football public?

Over to you S.F.A.......

Please Fax this to every chairman in the SFL, if they don't know the corrupt SFA AND SPL's agenda by now, they soon will.

This reads to me as a clear suggestion that he knows this has happened or is happening.....
