An idea for league reconstruction....

Recommended Posts

I don't see how it makes Scottish football stronger as the total resources would be the same just shared out differently. So where is the strength?

Because instead of two giants and 10 dwarves, you'd have less discrepancy between the sizes of the clubs and therefore more competition. You only have to look back to the 80s when Aberdeen and Dundee Utd were winning leagues and reaching European finals. They were never as big or as rich as the OF but the were able to have squads that could compete when they had good managers. The way things are now, no manager on earth could lead any other team to the SPL title.

The only thing you get is a pretty even league where you really don't know who's going to beat whom. However, that may sound good but it is in fact incredibly boring

I really don't know what to say to that.

Mr Mhank simply wont move from the status quo...nothing wrong with their finances and Mr Green will think likewise when Rangers are 'back up there'.

The idea of giving the opposition our money to threaten our domination is absurd. It will never happen.

League reconstruction has run it's course over time and things have slowly went from bad to worse. It's 27 years now since a club outside Rangers/septic have lifted the title and it'll be another 27 before any club will come close.

Motherwell won the league in 1932 the only club to do so outside 'us and them' between 1905 and the outbreak of WWII a 35 year period? When the league started up again in peacetime 7 different clubs won it in the first 20 years.

We'll need WWIII to save football in this country.
