Regrets , he will have more than a few.

Recommended Posts

At this moment in time when a certain person looks back at the events of the summer and where Rangers are now one man more than most will be feeling major pangs of regret at the outcome of events and of how uncharacteristically for him he allowed things to squirm from out of the clutches of the small group that he not only influences but controls.

As he sees a Rangers support re-energisied ( to a point ) fully backing their team in great numbers , with a new board appearing from the ashes of the past , an IPO which apparently is looking like being a great success , and the leagues under which Rangers now find themselves going from strength to strength. Infact so much so that they are about to announce for the first time an SFL dedicated tv deal .

Yes this lonely man looks around his beloved Porkheid at its half empty stands , as his beloved Gween Bwigade are about to start a two game boycott ( yes I know you couldnt make it up ) of their own club , he must think how did I let it get to this , because lets face it Peter Lawell has royall fecked up , now before anyone starts thinking that i,m on the drink let me explain .

1. As everyone knows we are out of europe for 3 years due to non fullfillment of company accounts , so no revenue their, making it difficult to keep our better players and higher wage earners .

2. We had imposed upon us an illegal registration embargo , a confiscation of prize money won ,and are still to see the outcome of the discredited and totally corrupt investigation by Celtic/Harper Mackenzie/SPL into the EBT situation.

3.We were allowed to slip out of the jurastiction of the SPL and into the realms of the SFL , but wait we were only meant to go into the SFL 1st division , but those pesky SFL Chairmen refused to play ball , refused to be bullied and allowed Rangers(and their fans) their wish to start again in the SFL 3rd division.

This is where it all fell apart for Lawell, he lost control for the first time and in so doing couldn,t set the agenda , the SPL crowds are down , the SPL tv deal wont be renewed whilst Rangers aren,t part of it , infact the SFL games involving us are not only outsrtripping Celtics games they are amongst the top 10 highest viewed for sky this season so far .

The SFL have in David Longmuir a man who holds the value of all his clubs and his organisation to be paramount and in fact the whole of the game in general , where as the useful idiots of Doncaster and Regan can only see 2 inches infront of their faces ,when other idiots like Roger Hannah start coming out with the drivel that he did today ( in comparing the state of our game to the financial money making

EPl) you know the games a bogey .

So to get back to my point where now we have time , a degree of latitude in team rebuilding , the managerial issue( because I realise this issue is still very much in the minds of a large percentage of the support), and the financial room to actually reappear in a much healthier position , the opposite could have played out .

If Lawell had been smarter , he would have kept us under the SPL,s control with all sorts of penalties ,( infact Walter Smith even came out and said we should have stayed and had points deductiobns for a few seasons ), we would still have had the illegal registration embargo , still a weakened team and would probably have been getting beaten on a more regular interval which would have led to unrest and probably managerial changes , it would have kept the club on a back foot and kept the degree of pessimism which has hovered over us for the last good few years.

We will return , stronger , with a sense of purpose , re-energised with a whole new support ( the old and the new who have come back to see the Rangers) and all the while one man will forever have a deep deep sense of regret at what might have been .

Well said rbr.

The fact Liewell made that trip down to London with Doncaster to salvage their TV deal was a panic move imo.

Only a scumbag of the highest order would use the tragic death of a player to cancel a Football game.

"as his beloved Gween Bwigade are about to start a two game boycott"

Anyone know what that's about ?

Aye, they're claiming that CFC is forcing them to stay in Scotland and not allowing them to go home.

But... Why don't they go home? :fish:

Where would that be though? The scientists say that about 2% of the gene pool of the modern human contains genes of the neanderthals. I for one wouldn't be surprised if a new research reveals a certain, rather strange yet significant accumulation of this gene pool in a certain place to the East of the shores of the Clyde, especially if a certain team plays there.
