Ally mccoist plans a new year signing swoop for rangers

Recommended Posts

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has revealed that the club have begun compiling a list of signing targets for January.

A 12-month transfer embargo was imposed on Rangers by the SFAâ??s independent panel as a penalty for bringing the game into disrepute by not paying taxes during Craig Whyteâ??s tenure as owner.

The club are banned from registering players over 18 during the next two transfer windows.

But McCoist is hoping to tie up several players on pre-contract deals in the new year.

He said: â??Chief scout Neil Murray has been working on it.

â??We have a list of players. The idea would be to get guys on pre-contracts before registering them on September 1.â?

McCoist admitted that Rangers may need to â??employâ? the new signings under a different job description until theyâ??re able to register them.

â??Weâ??d probably have to but Iâ??m not sure of the legalities of it,â? he said. â??There may be ways of doing it and then simply registering them as players on September 1.

â??It would be good to get a decent pre-season next year and that would, hopefully, involve the players that are not allowed to play until September 1.â?

Haven't checked, but Hearts have been transfer-embargoed too for bringing the game into disrepute, right? Till January 1st or something likewise-silly?

Point is, McCoist probably speaks of people that become available in the Summer transfer window, so we would have no need to employ them and simply ask them to do a Ian Black solely over the month of August and stay freebies.

Wonder whether the registrations for Naismith and Co. have been transferred now?
