craig 5,199
Absolutely, but we need to box clever and not give them more ammunition to use against us because that's just playing straight into their hands. There's certain parties involved in dealing us blows when we were on our knees that would like nothing more than to blame Rangers for the death of another club and we can't give them the slightest chance of being able to pull that shit on us. It's our club which has been the victim of wrongdoing and our enemies want nothing more than to turn that around on us. They're actively trying to do exactly that and we can't allow them to succeed. I dont disagree... but if we boycott SPL clubs and they die I fail to see how one or two games boycotted by Gers fans should be blamed on Rangers. Take Hearts for example.... if we were to boycott a game and they ended up going under, how could that be the fault of Rangers ? It would be the result of their own years of financial mismanagement. Yes, the media will suggest it was Rangers - but you honestly think that if any club goes under in the next 5-10 years (and I suspect it will) that t he media wont blame us anyway ? Any club that goes under will do so, not because of Rangers, but because of their own financial mismanagement, their own supporters own lack of support for the club, their general hatred of all things Rangers which had the turkeys voting for Christmas in the summer and their own malaise - not Rangers and its fans and boycotts.
bossy 0
Absolutely, but we need to box clever and not give them more ammunition to use against us because that's just playing straight into their hands. There's certain parties involved in dealing us blows when we were on our knees that would like nothing more than to blame Rangers for the death of another club and we can't give them the slightest chance of being able to pull that shit on us. It's our club which has been the victim of wrongdoing and our enemies want nothing more than to turn that around on us. They're actively trying to do exactly that and we can't allow them to succeed. I think that what we are now seeing is a war of attrition. Can our enemies in the SFA and SPL - aided by the media - bring us to our knees and bend us to their will before clubs start going bust, season ticket sales slump and the TV deal goes south. Their problem, of course, is that we are gathering strength week by week and month by month. They now know that an SPL without Rangers is of waning interest to the average punter and even less to the TV audience. They will try to bring us back to a 'reconstructed' SPL but on terms which are wholly unfavourable to Rangers because the alternative may well be oblivion for more than a few clubs. Certainly, we will need to 'box clever' but there are some fights that we will not be able to avoid. Whatever happens and no matter what the rights and wrongs, the finger of blame will be pointed at Rangers. We will just need to accept that will happen and stand intransigent in order to protect our own interests.
calscot 0
Agreed. It's bombastic and stupid - particularly now where we have scores to settle. "If an enemy has alliances, the problem is grave and the enemy's position strong; if he has no alliances, the problem is minor and the enemy's position weak." - Sun Tzu Weird thing is that I am just reading "The art of war" although haven't got to that quote yet. There is a lot of wisdom in there that we could take heed from in our fight with the enemy. Thanks for that wise quote.
