The hatred continues far and wide

That this House notes that the owners of the club now playing in the Scottish Third Division called Rangers claim that it is the same club with the same history as the liquidated club also known as Rangers; further notes that 14 million in VAT and PAYE was withheld in the run-up to administration by the previous Rangers; further notes that the club is now cash-rich through a share issue which raised in excess of 20 million; condemns the use of insolvency laws to avoid paying tax owed; and calls on the Government to take steps to reclaim the outstanding monies from Rangers and to bring forward legislative proposals to prevent clubs and companies sidestepping their liabilities through liquidation and then carrying on trading with effectively the same name and in exactly the same business.

The stench of bigotry is strong in this one. :wanker:

Wonder if he ever raised a motion for the countless other companies who went down this road, will he be asking also why HMRC wasted millions on another failed tax case and why they knocked back a settlement payment from Sir Minty.

Forget the fact we lost millions in terms of contracted players due to the blocked CVA. We hardly came out of it quids in - I doubt many other clubs will be wanting to "do a Rangers" to boost their coffers.

But then - this is the same genius of a guy who would have us give the Falklands to Argentina.

Essentially he lives by the moto "British is bad".

I don't think we should care too much - they can only change the rules for the future and we'll be unlikely to fall foul of them again.

However, the funny thing is that other clubs who are likely to go to the wall will be facing more severe sanctions due to their own hatred and stupidity. If Hearts go into administration for instance, how many points will they be deducted and what are the new sanctions? If any other club newcos then they are straight to Division 3 with a transfer embargo. I don't think they realise what they have voted for.
