Crime & Punishment....

Recommended Posts

So what is your take on an ILLEGAL embargo then?

Did that crime fit the punishment?

it was about right of course it wasn't available. probably the only suitable available punishment was a suspension for a season.

with the moving of it so we can sign players in each summer with a little jigery pokery its pretty lenient really.

it does however remain an illegal sanction which should have seen heads roll.

but i repeat what i said. all our punishments were for actual crimes.

I don't think many people will argue about the punishments handed out for the wreckless behaviour of Whyte but surely the questions we need to keep asking are:

1. Why did the SFA and HMRC knowingly let Whyte abuse his authority for so long?

2: Why were the SPL so keen to blackmail Rangers into giving up titles (prior to final judgement) as part of their 5 point plan regarding our new licence?

IMO that's where the truth and agendas lie

No matter how many punishments that were dished out it was never going to be enough in others eyes.

Complete annihilation and the death of the club would have pleased the masses, they never got that - stripping of titles would have given them some degree of pleasure, they never got that either.

I can't wait until we are back in their faces again.

In any other country there would be a public enquiry into the whole saga. No other country in the world would let an institution like ours go down. If Man Utd, Barcelona, AC Milan etc had went under like this the Government of that country would be demanding answers.

It's a fairly easy trail to follow.

We were punished 10 points for going into administration - fair enough.

Because of us being in administration, Green was able to buy the club.

Because the HMRC were given creditors rights we were unable to exit Administration via a CVA because they decided to make an example of us, no matter how much they were going to lose in the process. (As it turns out they shouldn't have been given voting rights on our CVA, because as it turns out we didn't owe anything from the Big Tax case - and so we could have exited administration via a CVA and kept the old company intact!)

Thus the only option was liquidation of the old company which ran and operated Rangers FC and transfer the running of the club to a new company.

The footballing authorities then had a decision to make; whether to transfer the old company's share in the SPL to the new company and allow Rangers to continue playing in the SPL or whether to throw us out of the league.

They chose to do the latter and commit suicide in the process.

Why did they choose to do something so stupid? Well, take your pick from naked hatred, bigotry, self-interest and greed. They had already decided we were guilty of tax evasion and they had already decided that we were guilty of hidden payments and they had already decided that we had unfairly bought success. Some of them wanted a realistic crack at Champions League and european football, one of them wanted unearned league titles, past and future and most of them just hate us so much they would do anything to stab us when we were down.

The trouble for them is that we were not guilty, not guilty and not guilty.

In a fair league we would have been docked ten points; the SPL share would have been transferred to allow us to continue playing in the top league, and we would have been able to keep our players and avoid the losses we incurred by losing them.

Instead we were found guilty, sentenced and punished before the trial had even started simply to appease the hysterical blood lust and hatred shown by the 'fans' and management of other clubs.

Rangers FC is actually the victim in all of this; Before Whyte took over, we were managing the debt and had reduced it to under £20m from 3 times that much. We were paying all our bills and the ship was stable.

It was because of the "certainty" of Big tax Case guilt that Murray was forced to sell us to a crook who drove us into oblivion within months by not paying the taxes he was due to pay - whilst the regulatory authorities, the ones who have levied every punishment they could, stood by and did nothing until it was too late.

And don't get me started on this 'transfer embargo' and teh blackmail we were subjected to simply in order to survive.

The only 'fair' punishment was the docking of ten points for entering administration - everything else has been a travesty of justice.

he didn't pay income tax or vat to the tune of around 20 million.

if you don't punish the club involved in something like that then every club will do it and just have a fall guy. it's crap but we cant rewrite history al we can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Administration means you can't pay someone. You get a 10 points deduction for that. That's the rules. Just because the organsation that we couldn't pay is HMRC makes no difference.

You can't start making up punishments just because someone gets offended at who the cash is owed to.

Trying to justiify an illegal transfer ban because we went into administration is Reganesque.
