Can McAusland win a start at def mid?

Possibly. He was on huge dollar and would most likely not have got that anywhere else at his age. I don't think him leaving was ever on the cards.

Got to agree. Alexander too. Both of them on very good money and at an age where they would be struggling to get the same money and a first team place elsewhere, so neither were likely to be leaving in a hurry.

This may be so. He still gave it 100 percent on and off the park. You could argue it's his job and expected of him, but others didn't quite dig in the way he did.

That shouldn't mean he is singled out for God like praise though. As you say, he done his job, the job he is paid very well to do.

Methinks no-one singled him out for "God-like" praise here ... and IMHO, those who committed to the club last summer are all to be commended for it. We may or may disagree on the "legend" status, but as far as I am concerned, those who chose to play for Rangers in the fourth tier of the Scottish game achieved at least a certain kind of legend status. And I would deem it somewhat cynical to think that their "committment" was solely or largely based on wages they might not have received elsewhere.

You're probably right in a sense dB and we're probably being a bit unfair, but in all honesty, the truth is probably balanced somewhere in the middle in that the high-earning players like Jig and Alexander who stayed did so for multiple reasons; to help the club, but also to help themselves because they were at home here with their families, earning good money, didn't have agents battering down their door with offers etc etc. Basically a whole bunch of reasons and yes, of course one of the reasons would have been that they stayed and moved down to the 3rd division with Rangers to help the club. One of many reasons.

There would have been a good few SPL teams who'd have taken Jig in a flash.

He wanted to stay with Rangers, whether that had to do with money or his love for the club we don't know for sure.

Whatever it was he definitely made the right decision regards our stage one.

There's not an SPL team (apart from the obvious) who could or would pay him anything remotely in the region of what we do.
