Is there a cure for schizophrenia?

Maybe people can stop moaning about the Tories then, they're voted in by a democracy.

Hope you ain't studying politics, they were put into power by a coalition agreement rather than a popular democratic vote. Be that as it may, I shall resist the temptation to moan about the Tories in order to spare your finer feelings from here on out.

I don't remember actually doing so, but even so.

I'm well aware of the coalition, they've obviously had majorities before, and if they hadn't agreed anything with the Liberals they'd have formed a minority government this time.

I was making a wider point about Scottish nationalism than simply talking about you Andy. I constantly hear about voting Yes so we can get away from the Tories..

Politics have taken precedence over our club's climb back to the 'rightful' place.

I wish the fans who 'Follow' Rangers would stand up and sing some of the fantastic songs associated with our club instead of singing 'stand up if you hate Salmond'

I suppose an exhilarating team on the park will change that...I fear I'll be dead and gone before that'll ever happen.

I'm slightly confused by this post, you don't sound at all convinced by the idea of independence yet you seem to be taken in by the SNP and nationalist separatist propaganda, we can't be Scots and Brits, England look down on us, we need to vote Yes to be a true country bla bla bla.

As for me, while i'm proud of Rangers' unionist links I don't form my views based on the football club I support. I mean George Galloway is strongly against independence.

I'm certainly not taken in by the SNP; an independent Scotland under capitalists will simply be a smaller version of the current UK. If, however, the SNP were a genuine socialist party then I think it would offer something to the people of Scotland. Think that's the reason Galloway is opposed, though he's no role model. Never had any time for champagne socialists. Edited by alexscottislegend

It's brutal trying to reconcile all the various bits and pieces you pick up down the years, in your personal life and your life as a Bluenose. All we can do is what is best for the club, i.e. avoid dong anything which will incur penalties.

FWIW I'll be voting yes in 2014 but rooting for a 5-0 Ashes triumph this summer to make up for the years of misery I endured as an England cricket fan in the 90's & 00's. We're all a bit mixed up, I guess, but being proudly Scots certainly doesn't mean being anti-English, just as being proudly British doesn't mean being anti-Scots.

I hope you work it out someday, mate. Let me know the secret if you do.

Absolutely not. But I do get irked by people who think English and British are synonyms.

Here is a question that may help. Do you consider Wales to be an independent nation? If you think it is an independent nation then reject the independence vote, if you think it is not an independent nation then your fears may be founded.
At the moment, Wales is technically a principality, in fact less independent than Scotland as they don't have a parliament just an assembly. But I imagine most Welshmen see themselves as a nation.

If the only option is an SNP government implementing their version of capitalism ("they may be Tories but at least they're oorTories") then I'd vote no too.

The whole point of independence is that we would always get the government/party that we vote for.

If there is a Yes vote, there will be an interim period of caretaker government until the next elections the following year. If the people continue to vote SNP, so be it. If they want to vote for Labour or anyone else, so be that, too. I believe the official term is "democracy" ;)

FWI, I think the SNP would cease to exist in its present form after independence as its raison d'etre would have gone.

At the moment it contains people from left and right, who often make uneasy bedfellows. After independence the party would probably split and one of those wings leave to form another party.

By the way, "tartan tories"? How old *are* you? You'll be talking about Dr Findlays Casebook next.
