Hedge fund acquires 5% stake in Rangers as club vows to fight Ahmad claim

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this will be a good thing....

Laxley have a significant investment in their Rangers shares. They are looking to turn a profit on that investment, however there is a significant different between Laxley & Green/Ahmed. Laxley will want to turn a profit at a corporate level rather than a personal one. They will do this by using their shareholding power to ensure that the company/club is run correctly. If this is done, the share price will increase as RFC is more attractive to investors, sponsors etc.

From my limited understanding, they will make any profit by trading shares on the open market, therefore they are not taking profit or cash from the club, unlike Green/Ahmed.

They will want a good, strong board in place who are going to run the company/club correctly in order to increase the share price.

I envy your optimism

Read a few pages on FF about this and the more "informed" chaps on there seem to agree with Darther's opinion. Given that Prior is also more deeply involved now, there is some positive movement on that front. These people look for stability and future profit, they won't want the club being run down by opportunists.

I am nervous about these guys.

Google "Laxey Partners and Alliance Trust" and see the trouble they've caused with a minority shareholding over the past 2-3 years.

Will they get value from their investment by demanding a dividend?
