Neil Patey: Partner at E&Y (finance guy used extensively by the media during the admin process)

“My view is that it is like many other business acquisitions where the assets, people, trade and trading names are "acquired" by another entity. It is a new legal entity, but essentially the old business continues. So it is right to say that it is a newco in legal terms, but the "club" is a continuation of the old one. Then it is up to football authorities if they confer membership and titles that "belonged" to oldco, which they obviously appear to have done.”

I decided to take a new take on the club/company "debate" with a few Celtic supporting mates who wouldn't let give up on the new club guff. I proposed a hypothetical scenario where Celtic had suffered the same mismanagement as Rangers and and as fans the had to defend the daily accusations of "new club" from rival fans, media et all. I expanded further by stating I believed they would consider Celtic "the club" as an untouchable entity that transcends company ownership etc. They, as fans, wouldnt stop supporting "Celtic". If a team in green and white hoops ran out at Parkhead they would support them regardless of the recent history of the company. Surely? One reply went along the lines of "ah but that's different as Celtic are more than just a club..."

Case closed your honour

For the love of all that is good and pure, DO NOT READ TODAY'S SPIERSEY ARTICLE IN THE HERALD.

I've completely stopped reading articles from Britney. He has absolutely nothing to say which is even in the slightest bit interesting or worthwhile.

Agreed. His irrelevance was confirmed a long time ago.

Normally I do not read any of his stuff other than what gets copied and pasted onto forums. However, for some unknown reason, my subconcious decided I would click on the newsnow link. I can only assume that my subconcious felt it was time to get angry about something after spending most of the morning in a boring meeting.

Speirs has no credibility left whatsoever ever since Chris Graham wiped the floor with him on Scotland Tonight on the night of the BTC result last year.

Being caught out telling blatant lies on live television you'd think organisations in this country wouldn't employ him again. Yet again this is Scotland unfortunately
