Should the board of Rangers really be issuing statements just because some bigoted, unbalanced blogger says something? Are we going to jump to it every time he comes out with some crap?

 

We should be above that and should not pander to internet bigots and give them credibility that they don't deserve.

 

Very disappointed that there was a statement issued.

 

Funny many posters have been saying for years that the club should come out and take a stance against people who try to slur our name. When they do it everybody is up in arms. I think they have to look at what happened in the past when stories like this grew arms and legs and caused our downfall.

Yep, lazy journo's buy into it. BBC make "award winning" documentaries on the strength of the lies. The Rangers haters lap it up and believe every word simply because their blind hatred makes them want to believe. They also then go into overdrive. The ball starts rolling, gathering momentum and the truth becomes irrelevant.

 

Then it's knock ten bells out of Rangers time all over again and and we keep suffering.

The fact is we have people like Jim Delahunt and Hugh Keevins congratulating this bigot for his relative success in posting inside scoops. When a caller pointed out that the guy was nothing but Rangers hater, Delahunt quickly cut him off - stating that he shouldn't go that far.

 

In order to nip this in bud the club had to act.

I don't think the statement was a threat against the screwball.

I think it was directed more at the media and the Scotsman in particular.

Ideally, the club would take crackpots like mad Phil three names and his pal Alex Thomson to court over their persistent rumour mongering about our Club, but the reality of the situation is that the Club can't afford to pay more extortionate legal costs than it's already doing. We're already paying for various legal services from 3 or 4 legal firms and something like 3 PR firms and it's costing the Club a fortune, so additional legal costs for going after obsessed Rangers hating rumour mongers is just out of the question. Well, I'd presume it's out of the question to actually take any action against them beyond maybe having Biggart Baillie or Field Fisher Waterhouse send them legal action threats.

At least if you say nothing he can continue to be listed as a deranged, bigoted crack-pot. Releasing this statement did nothing but validate him.

If the board continue to take no action against this crackpot then these false allegations will continue.

One way or another the Rangers board of directors need to do something about this individual sooner rather than later whatever it takes. That goes for certain so-called journalists in our mhedia too.

Making deliberate false allegations against an individual or an organisation in the public domain is something which is punishable by law in this country. I cannot understand why this individual & his allegations haven't been acted upon before now. It needs dealt with as its sole aim is to destroy Rangers FC by virtue of these false allegations.
