I am genuinely jealous that they have brought a young, vibrant, ambitious and hungry manager in. This is what we didn't want after Lennon. This news just makes my resolve to remove McCoist all the more firmer.

PLG springs to mind!

What they do should never have an impact on what we do.

I wish it was their Le Guen moment though i can't see it. Deila will be able to communicate better with his players and he already has a very settled squad of winners to work with. I don't see a Barry Ferguson or Kris Boyd in their group to spit the dummies out.

I believe what they do will always have an impact on us mate and like wise with us. There is just no getting away from that. For example keeping McCoist in charge makes their life so much easier but should we replace him with a real football manager then it makes their lives much harder as we are then a genuine threat to them.

The big difference you have overlooked is that PLG came from a significantly more successful club in a significantly superior league to Deila(or whatever his name is).As for a BF or KB Moment I think it's far too early to say that couldn't happen

It was someone else who brought up PLG Rab.

I hear you mate but i just don't see it. Not as long as they are winning league titles.

SDM brought in PLG did he not?

I get the impression they've brought Deila(or whatever he's called) in to recruit players from, shall we say, Scandanavia ?

And they sell on these players at profit onto the EPL and beyond. Sounds dead easy doesn't it? Might be a bit harder in practice though

I meant in this thread Rab, :D it was Gribz above my post you replied to.

They have a damn good record of signings decent players from that area over the years, compared to us anyway.

I stated above, this thing about them buying low and selling high is a bit of a myth. Strachan and Lennon made a loss in the transfer market with the players Liewell and John Park gave them, those 2 are still there, it will come down to whether Deila can manage the players better and get more out of them to make them genuine sellable assets.

We can have a huge say in how successful he is and how much money they make from their players but we need to change our manager first or we will be at best second forever.

.

Which players are you comparing.

They've had a dud for every scandanavian success

Foreign coaches are far more talented. Countries like Spain, Italy and Germany have far more top qualified coaches than the UK, they have a far better philosophy and more advanced techniques. Just because we failed once with a foreign manager, it certainly should not put an end to such an idea. I don't know about you, but I've seen enough of the 1980's Scottish approach to last me a lifetime. Obviously there is some exceptions, it looks like with PLG we were unfortunate to get a pretty useless manager given how he has failed since us. I'd be quite happy if we never had another Scottish manager.

Maybe when we embrace the 21st century, we might find ourselves playing football that suits it and we won't get horsed by nobodies on a fraction of the budget in Europe. The first step would obviously be getting rid of the manager.
