Top 5 Dutch managers without a club.

Recommended Posts

These are the top Dutch trainers who are out of work although I am not sure about Verbeek as he was with FC Bochum until present.

5. Gertjan Verbeek

Hard no nonsense fitness fanatic but misses a soft side and loses the dressing room at a lot of the clubs he has managed. A bit like Paul le Guen.

4. Mario Been

A players manager maybe too much like McCoist and McCall for me

3. Henk ten Cate

Pure tactician. Was Frank Rijkaards assistant at Barcelona because of his tactical outlook

2. Huub Stevens

Would probably cost too much but has managed some big clubs. Just managed to keep Stuttgart from getting relegated this season. Works more in Germany than anywhere else.

1. Bert van Marwijk

My Favourite. I would jump at the chance of getting him

I Think Martin Jol is also without a club also a manager who has managed at the top.

I have also said on here often I would love us to go for Ron Jans as he has always taken unexpected teams to a higher level. Herenveen and PEC Zwolle to name 2. He has always worked with a tight budget but still seems to get results. Unfortunately he has just signed a 2 year contract with PEC so he would cost too much.

Warburton and Weir are being talked about more and more.

Warburton is someone we should be at least looking at IMO. He is well-respected and has a decent record wherever he's been.

I'm of the opinion we need to look outside Scotland and our own club for our next manager.

They are certainly realistic and Im warming to them a bit. I can only see them getting a Championship job but there isn't to many going around. Derby look set to go for Paul Clement. If Leeds get things together off the park they might fancy them. Down one league the Sheff Utd job is available but Weir has already been there so they wont go for him again.

Martin Jol is someone Ive wanted for years but there is no way we could get him in the Championship. Even in the top flight it would be a big ask.

Warburton just does not excite me; I don't know what it is. Successful wherever he's been? That would be Brentford and...no, just Brentford.

He has been successful in the English Championship. We're playing in Scottish football and likely in the second division next season.

It's only been one season. If he had had more than one year in the Championship then perhaps I would be more accommodating. He just doesn't excite me. Robinson excites me more despite having only had 'success' in League One because it's been over a longer period and he's developed the whole club and brought in youth.
