The Rangers Supporters Trust, Assembly, Association, Fans Board, Rangers First and the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund have been involved in the discussions in recent weeks and months following the regime change at Ibrox in March. Members of the RST and Rangers First have already voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposals that would see the new organisation, which would be independent from the club, be in a position to buy shares and contribute towards capital expenditure projects. The efforts of the various fan groups were crucial in helping Dave King, Paul Murray and John Gilligan overthrow the former Gers board earlier this year. And Managing Director Stewart Robertson is confident there will be strength in numbers going forward as the Light Blue legions prepare for more key talks. “If you look at the role Rangers First, the Rangers Supporters Trust and all the other fans groups have played in the last three or four years, they were critical in getting the change which has now come about,” he told RangersTV. “There may be slightly different views in each of the groups, but what we are looking to do and what the groups are looking to do more importantly, is harness the positivity and the strength of good feeling around the club for the club’s benefit. “For as long as we are here, those fans groups are key to holding the board and future boards to account to ensure what happened previously doesn’t happen again. The RFFF is maybe being dragged into the equation/discussions because it's linked with the Assembly, but I don't understand why the Assembly would need to continue under any newly proposed umbrella group when being an umbrella group was the raison d'etre of the Assembly in the first place. You'd think any technical issues (RFFF monies for example) could be overcome and a new umbrella group could just replace the Assembly.
