Ashley summonsed to appear before MP's.

Recommended Posts

Seems very clear to me he employed a close circle to oversee his whole business all of whom are primarily motivated by greed and are more than willing to sell out their morals for an extra buck. He has not employed anyone within that top circle who's motivation was to look after the social and moral conduct of SD and that mentality has dropped down throughout the whole business at every level.

Edit. It's a carbon copy of his own personality

Ashley played the part of Alan Sugar very well. Many will lap up the 'honest guv' barrow-boy patter unfortunately - MP's included.

Very disappointing given the previous witnesses showed just how devious this fella and his close circle of associates are.

He said he was in charge of SD employment review (at least in the ST)

He then said he didn't even know if some of the main 'red flags' that had been waved regards employment practice even existed.

He said that he didn't know who was responsible for adopting certain employment policies (red flags).

If he is in charge of review....what does that say about review ?

He admitted to not being able to manage growth regards employment but talked about looking to buy BHS.

He said 'people' were the most important thing about SD but they obviously come VERY low on the priority list.

He tried to put distance between himself and agencies.

He wants them to take a lot of the blame.

etc, etc., etc

Committee let him dominate the meeting and didn't take advantage of material staring them in face....When Paul Blomfield MP became awkward, Ashley basically shut him up.....although this did give an insight into the Ashley personality.

Turner (Union) was excellent and will be generally peeved at MP's performance.

-------------

One thing from that is that in a roundabout way he admitted to being very sensitive to media criticism. Interested parties should take note.

As I see it anyone waiting for Ashley to fall on his sword would be waiting a long time. The only way to bag him is via City pressure, and since his performance today was one of a man without a clue how his business operates, his coat is on an even shooglier nail. That's my take anyway.

Welcome to capitalism in the twenty first century. If we leave the EU stand by for more erosion of workers' rights, no EU working directive etc. A world ruled by Boris and Gove. Think before you vote to leave. Oh, and trade unions even more hamstrung than they are now.
