Big Time Goalscorer

Recommended Posts

With our style of play we will not have the luxury of a goal scorer "hovering" around the six yard area so we need a bigger input of goals from the shot shy midfield.

Why not???

With 3 up front, there should always be someone in that central position when attacking, the the 2 wide attackers drifting in & out as play dictates. Miller appears to drop far too deep, far too often, leaving that central spot vacant.

It's more of a 4-2-3-1 than anything else.

The five in midfield allows us to retain possession but unless the attacking three get further forward then we don't have enough people in the box and we end up passing the ball back and forth in front of defences. This in turn makes Miller (or AN Other) come deep so when the ball does go wide they often can't make up the ground to be on the end of the cross.

It's not actually that easy to solve when teams park the bus but, at the very least, we have to get more men forward and apply a higher tempo to our game. When we do that, usually we look more dangerous. When we don't - as Saturday - we offer little threat.

We could be doing with an Albertz/Fergie* type of midfielder who can shoot with power and accuracy from 20/30 yards out, we don't have that at all, when anybody tries it it usually ends up in row Z.

(*the niar one)

This was the exact subject me and a few bears were discussing post match in our local.

He has been outstanding this season. 100% effort, touches of goal scoring quality and passes on his experience to the younger team members. Without question player of the year, by a long stretch.

Foderingham is out Player of the Year, by a long stretch - at this point in time.

Miller has done very well though

Surely we are bigger and better than this and can rise above that. He obviously was doing it in the moment and was young at the time. He has done wonders for us and signed for us 3 times - doesnt that mean something??

Couldn't agree more. I have little time for the "you played for them so fuck you" attitude of some of our fans.

Its the 21st century, not the 19th.
