Ally McCoist: Don't blame me for failure of Resolution 11

Recommended Posts

Ally McCoist has defended himself over his failure to vote in an important resolution at last year's Rangers agm.

The former Ibrox boss stressed he was not to blame for costing the Ibrox board the chance to offer new shares without first offering them to existing shareholders, including controversial Sports Direct supremo Mike Ashley.

McCoist also suggested that the fact his failure to vote on Resolution 11 at November's meeting was leaked to the public was a deliberate attempt to turn fans against him.

Rangers revealed that Resolution 11 was only 0.4 per cent short of the 75 per cent backing it required.

McCoist, who has a 1.25 per cent shareholding in the club, said: "I was one of the 25 per cent who never voted as I was out of the country and a lot more high-profile people at Rangers, people who are close to my heart, also never voted.

"Out of the 75 per cent who voted, 26 per cent voted against resolution 11.

"When Dave King (chairman) and the board were getting voted in (2015) I turned up at Ibrox to vote for that board, strongly against the advice of my lawyer who, believe it or not, wouldn't talk to me for 10 days.

"But I felt it was the right thing to do.

"What I do with my vote is private so clearly it was leaked by somebody and I have a fair idea who it is.

"It was an attempt to get the fans turned against me which certainly has not been the case as a lot of people saw through it.

"I support the board. Absolutely. I appreciate how difficult a job the board have got and I know the board will be doing their best for Rangers. All I would say is that I just hope they can find investment.

"I remain a supporter of the club and the board and I just hope the board can find the investment to help the next manager."

I wish he'd just keep quiet. Instead he's making things worse for himself by using these silly excuses. I find it all very sad. He was a legend and a really nice guy, or at least I thought he was. I don't know what's happened but only he knows.

If he's truly interested in recovering his reputation in any way, shape or form, he's got to keep a low profile for a while. Or at the very least he's got to stop saying things that he knows will wind us up.

This appears to be idiotic, but perhaps it's more calculated. I just can't think what he hoped to achieve with this. Sad. Very sad!

He's destroyed that image. There's more on this on pages 77-78 of the "Who's next?" thread.

Out of the country? Did he not know he was going? Was he scooped up by aliens and deposited in Patagonia?

Or did the mystery lawyer make sure he didn't? They have their ways, I believe.

In my humble opinion McCoist has never forgiven King for not reinstating him as manager when the new board took over almost 2 years ago.

And there was absolutely no chance of this happening. None whatsoever

Perhaps the person that you promised that you would vote?

Saw through what? The fact that you didn't vote? But you've already admitted you didn't so what is there to see through?
