RFC negotiate new 12 month retail deal with Sports Direct

Recommended Posts

Rangers fans have all but stripped bare the official club shop within hours of opening today after Ibrox chiefs reached agreement with Mike Ashley and Sports Direct over a new merchandise deal.

Our video shows empty shelves and railings where the kit had hung since its release last August.

Only a few kids' kits and away strips remained after the mad rush to Ibrox that saw lengthy queues ahead of opening time this morning.

It comes after fans ended their boycott of the official Puma kit over a long-running feud with Ashley.

A deal, agreed by the previous board at Ibrox, saw Ashley's Sports Direct pocket 93p in the pound for every strip sold.

Rangers chairman Dave King yesterday confirmed that contract had finally been torn up and replaced by a new one-year agreement which will see Rangers keep the majority of profits from sales of their merchandise.

Rangers supporters liaison officer Greg Marshall this afternoon said adult home jerseys had sold out before mid day and would not be restocked until the weekend.

The shirts I bought last night from the online megastore link still have some sort of SD connection judging by the confirmation I got in email. It came from cs@sportsdirect.com

But presumably the club will get the bulk of that money as King stated.

We only get 50% via Sports Direct. Better waiting until that is all sorted out.

We haven't got a single extra penny guys. We're still broke. I just got it from a sellik blog.

Yet another from the planet timothy who has "a guy on the inside". His pal works for Puma and assures him that Puma and SD threatened to sue Rangers. There are warehouses full of unsold Rangers jerseys which Puma were going to court to get paid for. Our board panicked and cobbled a deal.

He ends his blog by saying "this is all rumour and not fact". :rfcbouncy:

Well he got most of it right. SD did sue us,there were plenty of old shirts on the shelves and we did cobble a deal. The bit he missed is it is a pretty good deal. 100 times better than the deal we had.

so....if Rangers' desperation for cash, they managed to "cobble" together a deal that removed SD's financial dominance from the old agreement & managed to get a deal which is much more heavily weighted in favour of us....all on the back of potential law suits from Puma AND SD.....yet we came out on top despite our desperation's....:roflmao2::roflmao2::roflmao2:

Why can those in the dirty end of town not just accept "oor boys done good", and we're well on the way to giving them a right good kick up the arse!!!!

Sports direct are operating the Megastore and the Rangers Online Megastore - but we get the best deal from buying from these two outlets.

Does that mean that all money collected now by SD via these outlets will be paid in the 75\25 deal?

How long will it take before Rangers take over the running of these outlets and the money will not be paid to SD or is it the meaning that all money will remain to go through SD?

Or is SD keeping control of the megastore and online sales?

The sewer dwelling puddle drinkers will never admit anything good about Rangers, they deflect/deny everything yet their whole lives are dominated by Rangers.

Feck them, we just need to get back to winning ASAP and watch the pain inflicted on them.
