Cammy, I think that's to do with most people's ages.

We remember the players we have seen. I assume we've had tons of great players over our 134 odd years of illustrious history, but who remembers them enough to compare them?

There's also the theory that even a mediocre team today is full of players far fitter, faster, technically adept and better organised than great players of yesteryear.

The likes of Jay Jay Okocha are doing stuff with the ball now that make some world players of the year in the past look ordinary and what's he ever won?

But I think we mostly remember the players we've seen from our teenage years onwards and especially during successful periods. We also tend to get misty eyed over players who move on to do big things like Gattuso and Van Bronkhurst.

IMO any hall of fame should be resevered for those who gave loyal service and made a difference to Rangers.

So along with those nominated, I think and only IMO, a non-playing nominee should be David Holmes as he transformed not only Rangers but Scottish Football.

As for players, well I think most have been covered, but like to mention Eric Caldow a fantastic player, a true blue gentleman and still a great 'Ranger' to this day.

Eric Caldow used to own my local - a gentleman and most definitely a true Ranger.

I am too young to know but am reliably informed he was also a very, very good player.

PS the first team I really remember goes something like:

McCloy

Jardine A.MacDonald MacLean Miller

W.Johnston Russell Bett Cooper

J.MacDonald D.Johnstone

They probably weren't all in the same team but they are my first memories from the late 70's when I was nine or ten and starting to read the match reports and pay attention to the games on TV as well as going to my first games.

The trouble is that John Greig had just become manager and although the players I watched won quite a few cups they never won the league and so it's hard to name them all as legends - although I did name Cooper and Jardine.

So I think most legends for people my age and younger will mostly come from the Walter Smith and Dick Advocaat era.

Oh, totally agreed, just thought it was interesting that not many of them had been nominated. It'd be interesting to see how many are in the Rangers Hall Of Fame...

So, given that, I'll nominate 2 players who played (and scored) in that team - Colin Stein and Willie Johnston and one who played and scored in the semi-final, Derek Parlane.

Yeah its definatly an age thing, no doubts about it.

But it will be interesting to have a Gersnet hall of fame and its likely many players from past generations will not be it. But the club has its offical hall of fame where these guys will be properly honoured.

Based on players I've watched I'd nominate a rather unbalanced team as follows:

Goram

Greig

Forsyth

Butcher

Jardine

Baxter

Alex MacDonald

Laudrup

Gazza

McCoist

Stein

Based on hearsay (my father and grandfather) I’d like to find space for Alan Morton, Eric Caldow, Willie Woodburn and Jock Shaw

Non players would be Struth and Willie Waddell.

You could add Waddell as a player as well and not to forget Willie thornton
