Scottish FA Statement on Unacceptable Conduct

Recommended Posts

Thursday 21 February 2019

Ian Maxwell, Chief Executive at the Scottish FA: "The Scottish FA condemns in the strongest possible terms the spate of incidents this season involving unacceptable conduct in Scottish football. This season we have witnessed match officials and players hit by coins, sectarian singing at matches and abusive and threatening behaviour towards match officials, players, managers and coaching staff. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and simply has no place in football, or indeed Scottish society.

"Football has a responsibility to take action. We must do all that we can under our current rules and engage with clubs to seek to eradicate such behaviour.

"This issue, however, is not one that football can solve on its own. To that end, SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster and I recently met with Cabinet Secretary for Justice Humza Yousaf, Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Joe Fitzpatrick and Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Bernie Higgins to discuss unacceptable conduct in football and how we can work together to address this.

"We will seek further discussions in light of the most recent events to maintain the momentum for change."

Why has James Dornan MSP not been invited to this meeting?

I demand an invitation to James be extended reference further meetings. James brings a special insight into such matters.

Neil Lennon has some time on his hands, if it's insight you want.

We have to go on the front foot with this or they will push on and develop new legislation (either within football or within the kiddy-on parliament) without us. We must show the sheer hypocrisy of this latest bout of selective-offendedness and call out all those that were either silent after Sunday and vocal now, or called cheer up Kris Boyd "banter" and cheer up Stevie Clarke sectarian abuse.

We cant wait to hope some journo shows this up, (they wont) we must go on all out attack directly from within the club. They will soon quieten down when they realise we can show them all up and we wont just sit and take it anymore like we have done the last 20 years.

Completely agree with you on this TB. Although, they will have a hard job when the Tories are the largest party after the next election. There will be a primal “unionist” scream from those in the middle who voted for other parties.

Absolute, joke is a statement only made due to their selective whining. We absolutely need to go in the front foot and highlight everything else that their fans are doing.
