The latest Chinese virus

Recommended Posts

All this relaxing rules to let people have Christmas with families is one load of nonsense do these clowns think the virus will be taking a holiday i find it hard to believe these folk are in charge of anything we do not even know if any of these vacancies will work its any port in a storm time its being rushed out without any trials probably a chance worth taking but there will always be some doubt .

Once folk start mixing at Christmas and new year we will soon see a huge rise in cases and sadly more unnecessary deaths in my opinion we have it arse for elbow were coming out when we should be having a severe lockdown and introducing their vaccine's .

anyway that's my we Thursday rant  .

Anyone who feels they are at risk from Covid is entitled to make their own decisions regarding Christmas get-togethers.

After nearly a year of restrictions on socialising, travel and various other every day activities, I think many of us would like to see our relatives.  Life is far less fulfilling when the only regular face to face interactions you have are with shop assistants, with masks on.

According to the UN, "In the month of September alone, in the US, something like 865,000 women dropped out of the labour force compared to 200,000 men, and most of that can be explained by the fact that there was a care burden and there's nobody else around.".

'Care burden' is an interesting choice of words.

Say's it all about how the BBC stands on family and wokeness with the latter much more important that actual family values.

Given the popular train of thought on 'toxic masculinity' and the evil 'patriarchy', you'd think kids would be better off spending more time with their mothers.

Then there are cultural differences.  For instance, Bangladeshi mothers are less likely to work.  So do the Beeb want these people to adhere to modern Western feminist values, rather than their own and if so, isn't that going against diversity and inclusion?

Pointing out contradictions while standing in a forest of contradictions might not be quite the achievement it feels.

"Dishonesty inspires more euphemisms than copulation or defecation. This helps desensitize us to its implications. In the post-truth era we don't just have truth and lies but a third category of ambiguous statements that are not exactly the truth but fall just short of a lie. Enhanced truth it might be called. Neo-truth . Soft truth . Faux truth . Truth lite ." Deception has become the modern way of life. Where once the boundary line between truth and lies was clear and distinct, it is no longer so. In the post-truth era, deceiving others has become a challenge, a game, a habit. (from the abstract to Philip Keyes' The Post-Truth Era, Dishonesty & Deception in Contemporary Life)

Aye but isn't he just a product of the patriarchal social construct?

It sometimes feels like we're living in a maze of labels and constantly evolving terminology.  The 'new normal', if you will...groan.
