Cabinet reshuffle

Recommended Posts

I don't remember the Home Counties whining like this when they were handed a Labour government. No do I recall the Labour-voting North of England rejecting the election result when a Tory government was elected. They might not have liked it but there were no howls of oppression that come from the SNP. Why are nationalists unable to accept what everyone else knows to be true - "you don't always get what you want"

Can I suggest all ScotNats would benefit greatly by adopting the fine philosophy of stoicism .... which is ....

.... "a philosophy that teaches the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions."

For the people who bother to vote the system of proportional representation used in Scotland does reflect a substantially more proportional representation of political views in Scotland than first past the post. You only need look at the last Westminster election and we have all these SNP MPs elected!

Sorry mate.

The United Kingdom voted to keep first past the post a long, long time ago.

Are you in denial about each, and every, single fact of life in British politics?

If you mean the General Election I don't think Johnston got a resounding victory in Scotland and neither do a majority in the UK support him, such is the first past the post system.

Well the SNP did quite well out of FFTP, as they only got 45% of the popular vote but ended up with 81% of the seats (48)

The Tories on the other hand got 25% of the vote but 10% of the seats (6)

If Scotland reverted to a list system or STV system, their 1.2m votes may have given them around 30 seats and the other parties 29 between them with the Tories up from 6 to 15 seats, with Labour on 10 and LDs on 4.

Which is why despite it being in their manifesto they will never introduce it.
