The Summer 2020 Transfer Window Now Closed: Zungu signs on loan with option to buy

Recommended Posts

Well, the window didn't pan out the way I expected and we didn't sign the second attacking midfielder I hoped we would, but you have to be very pleased, all things considered.

Not one of us expected to end the window having spent more than £10m and having only brought in about £1m. But in doing that we have finally moved on number of bit part players who weren't good enough, and we have brought in a mix of quality players who will challenge for a starting place as well as some necessary cover players.

Roofe, Hagi, Itten and Zungu will all strengthen the match day squad. Bassey, Balogun and McLaughlin improve the quality of our backups.

I said right at the beginning of the window I felt this was the time to cash in on Morelos, I do think we would be stronger if we had done that early in the window and spent the money. We don't know what went on, but from a distance it looks like we priced him out of a move. But now that he is here to stay he better get his act together fast and realise that he is playing himself out of the move he wants.

Has the business done been good? I think so. We’ll know soon enough.

Has it been done well? Very well indeed. Imagine the excitement if Roofe and Itten had been brought in yesterday evening but better by far to get it all done early so that new players don’t disrupt a team pattern. Excitement is usually followed by disappointment.

We will need to wait until the league is called if were in front then it will all have been worth it

Yup, only the finishing line separates the winner from the losers.

He has been fit for 8 months but frozen out by Moyes.  Hardly fair on the lad to blame the last two years all on injury

to risky he could trip over a worm and be injured its not about being fair its about getting a player who can handle the rigours of football

the call will probably come if they win the next old firm game and remain unbeaten until christmas ? and still have their game in hand

I wouldnt disagree compo - my point really was that he hasnt been injured for two years - he has been fit for 8 months.

Depending on wage, IMHO Wilshere would be worth a punt - he is a quality player and still only 28.  Yes, there are injury concerns, but the quality he brings, at the right wage obviously, would be worth the risk IMO.

He is a free agent so we (or any other club) can still sign him. A respected West Ham tweeter suggested last night that we are interested.

For what it's worth, don't think we'll make a move but stranger things have happened
