Hibs chief Dempster ‘fizzing’ with SPFL over Celtic switch...

...and says fixture change was not agreed.

HIBS chief Leeann Dempster has hit out at the SPFL over the decision to move their January clash with Celtic to a Monday night.

The league body confirmed earlier this evening that the fixture - originally scheduled for Saturday, 9 January - had been put back 48 hours until Monday, January 11 at a 'club request'.

But Dempster has now issued an apology to Hibees fans saying the date change was done without her knowledge and the club were NOT asked after rejecting Celtic's original request.

She wrote on Twitter: "Apologies to our supporters and our head coach.

"This was done without my knowledge - we said no to the original request from Celtic because the request didn't work for our club.

"The SPFL appears to have agreed this without a call to the decision makers at our club.

"We are fizzing about this @SPFL. I know I am leaving soon (ish) but they still have my mobile number so a call should have been easy to do - or Graeme Mathie or even to our Chairman - not good enough.

"Move to Monday without asking us?"

...

And now the SPFL 's director of operations Iain Blair insists policy has always been to favour the home club in such situations.

...

“As has been the case for the past 22 years, SPFL policy, where two clubs do not agree about a fixture change and in the absence of any other relevant factor, is to favour the home club."

How about “sporting integrity” as a relevant factor?

The decision should favour the home club as promoters of the event if the postponement is requested for logistical reasons. A club’s training programme is not a reason to “favour the home club”.

If getting knocked out of the League Cup results in the chaotic scenes of last Sunday, think what will happen if they lose to the Mighty on 2/1? They will need to escape the country so it looks like they are covering off this eventuality.  Funny how it's only been raised now. You would have thought that a long planned training camp would have given rise to more notice than 1 month. Very suspicious.
