i think the relationship is beyond repair now.

Strategy trumps tactics.

 

There are a number of 'ifs' for Rangers supporters concerning BBC Scotland.

 

If we win the league, if we qualify for the Champions League stages, if we draw attractive clubs ie Real Madrid, Bayern, Juve, etc in our group, ........... etc? The scale of the situation inevitably draws requests for information, there's a story to be told. It's imperative that Rangers control that narrative. PQ's current stance cannot stand when BBC heavyweights are demanding access and the 'live' coverage of Rangers - Real Madrid, is in reality Richard Gordon, Liam McLeod, and Billy Dodds sitting in a studio half a mile from the Stadium. 

 

In the short term, yesterday's events at Lennoxtown is the start of an answer to another 'if'. Lennon has stated Sky Sports will get nothing from him and his players until Andy Walker apologises. Lawwell has been here before, he has banned Hugh Keevins for two years, Radio Clyde's Peter Martin for a year, and the Record's Klaxon Jackson for two years. The solidarity of then NUJ was tested and found wanting, BBC Scotland offered NO support to fellow union paying journos. It's time for the newly appointed Steve Carson to intervene and utilise the compromise solution BBC/Man United arrived at back in Sir Alex's day, or the BBC Scotland solution arrived at when Jum Spence was banned from Dens Park.

 

There's another 'if' that Rangers must  begin to work. Political involvement is key, a raft of cross party Rangers supporters must be created. Murray deliberately ignored such a option. The current Board must nurture this option. Once questions are being asked in and out of Parliament about Rangers supporters paying their license fees and NOT receiving a full service, then Carson will have to listen. Being overwhelmed by the strategy will leave him no option.

 

Finally, there remains a big player at PQ with considerable experience in multi-media platforms, both in Management, Administration, and Broadcasting. He is very much the glue that adheres many of the usual suspects to the prevailing couple of decades old narrative. He is in his seventieth year and announced a few months back that he is hoping for another five years. He is the hater but has the foresight to know careful hate allows survival. He was prominent in the Rangers Tax Case Blog, and he knows the value of on message political support. He stays off social media because he knows it has more disadvantages than advantages for a purveyor of careful hate. I could go on, but if Rangers can convince Carson to bin Stuart Cosgrove, then the pensioners, the long term ill, the isolated, ........... etc Rangers supporters will begin to receive the full service they pay for. Cosgrove regularly states he doesn't get Rangers supporters, that we stand on the sidelines raging and beeling. Cosgrove has put us there, he intends to keep us there.

I think I posted all the correspondence on here? the whole complaints system is designed to piss you off so you just drop it, you get nowhere with them. It is a different story for the likes of Rangers FC I would imagine? I'm certain they can get a more direct line to the BBC and have if I'm correct? and it's still Status Quo.

I don't think we need BBC Scotland tbh and I would hope they never set foot inside Ibrox ever again, however it is still wrong that a lot of Rangers fans, and opposing fans whose team are playing at Ibrox, are paying for a service yet not receiving it!.

Agree with gonzo. Just cancelled my licence last year and got an official letter stating that no licence is needed. The last BBC produced show I watched was available on Netflix so why am I paying nearly 150 bucks a year for the bloody privilage?

My opinion about the licence fee is a general one (in relation to the entire BBC output) but the way Rangers fans are treated was the straw that broke the camel's back, a year or so ago.

 

McLaughlin commenced the stand-off with his ridiculous headline after our 6-2 victory at Easter Road.  Rangers were correct to revoke his press privileges as a result.  The situation has reached an impasse, with neither PQ or Rangers prepared to budge.  This, combined with BBC and Ofcom's absolutely pitiful and dismissive handling of valid and reasonable complaints made by many Bears (myself and @ian1964 included), is what made me decide that there is only one useful course of action.

Out with the Rangers nonsense and other stuff that irks me about the BBC, the choice not to pay also comes down to output. ie. If I had the choice would I pay the £12 per month for another TV service. Nope. Simply not worth it.
