Gonzo79 8,144
So, we've now had he shouldn't have went for it because it wasn't a 50/50 and also the keeper's head 'got in the way'. He got the ball first.
DMAA 2,916
If Alan Power had nicked the ball before Ryan Jack’s head would it have made any difference? Blue tinted specs all round here.

Blue tinted specs all round here. Football is a contact sport. Occasionally players will get injured. If there's a chance you can win the ball or score, go for it.
Popular Post ian1964 8,287
Sometimes these things happen in football. I remember one game I played in the opposing team had a throw in, I was on the line to prevent the nearest player from receiving the ball on the line, the ball was thrown down the line, I had my eyes on the ball all the way as it was going over my head, as I followed the ball I raised my foot to try and get a touch as I turned, one of their players was coming in to head the ball on and my foot went right into the guys face, I was quite upset when it happened, as the guy fell to the ground I thought I had taken his teeth out, I immediately went to see if he was ok, the ref called me over and said I was going to book you but I seen how concerned you were and it was a total accident. Sometimes you can make a misjudgment and get it totally wrong, it's football it happens!. Roofe got it wrong but there was no malice in it, it was a red card for dangerous play, IMO.

The keeper was just about to gather it with ease at his head height, there’s nothing the striker can do about that, the long ball just hasn’t worked. It happens all the time and I’ve never once seen a striker challenge for a ball like that before. It’s understandable people want to defend a Rangers player, and none of us think he had any intent, but I find it incredible so many think “he had every right to go for it” or it was a 50/50. I disagree. I think he should be going for it. I'm just going to leave it at that.
the gunslinger 2,736
if the keeper is half a second later arriving it's a pen and a red card. It's a split second thing. Edited March 21, 2021 by the gunslinger
