No comment on council election results from the unionists ? My vote was one of 73 cast for the socialist candidate. In my area.

The thread title may help.

What was the turnout, nationally?

A spoilt ballot paper then?

Not at all, I voted for the candidate closest to my own views. I think you should always vote for the candidate you would like to win rather than vote for another just to keep someone else out.

In an ideal world, we'd vote for the best candidate.  Unfortunately, Scotland's current political climate is far from ideal.

I voted Lib Dem (tactical) and Scottish Family Party (closest to my own views).

So you may end up with a candidate whose views/polices you really hate, by giving a vote to a party with no chance. I'd say that was akin to a proxy vote for the SNP.

What percentage of the eligible electorate did the SNP, Labour, Tories, Greens, Liberal Democrats, Family Party, or Socialists persuade to vote for them? If people do not vote they get what the rest decided.

Don’t you know the answer then?

When will we ever see a ScotNat discuss the SNP without referencing other parties. There’s something very shallow and insecure about nationalists.

Voter turnout was 43% or thereabouts.

Hardly indicative of a clear desire for a Second 'Once in a Generation' Referendum, far less a clarion call for "Freeeeedom".

Do you know what % of that 43% actually gave their first preference vote to the SNP?
