It’s pretty straightforward, don’t sing anything racist or sectarian. There is no more to it.

You seem to have bought into this big time. Pretty soon we’ll be afraid to open our mouths for fear of offending someone. But you’ll still be happy in your conformity, right.

I’ve just been looking at a Facebook article which features an Indy march with a TORY SCUM OUT banner

Whats the difference between that and the famine song?

Both wrong in my opinion but one will end in prosecution and one won’t

This 100%.

Sing about The Rangers.

That's Derry's Walls and various other Ulster related songs out then.

The likes of Dornan, Haggerty and co will not stop.  A line has to be drawn at some point.

The more things change .....

2008 is 13 years past, but the main characters in this drama hardly change. The Famine Song appeared at the same time as Phil McFournames. He was in the habit of regularly calling BBC Scotland to tell of his explanations of vile, sectarian Rangers supporters to his tearful early teenage daughter. Phil struck a chord with the then BBC Scotland News Editor, Dermot O'Hara. After the aforementioned old firm match, Dermot decided to show a thirty second long shot of the Rangers support singing, with the lyrics of the Famine Song and a bouncing ball at the bottom of the screen. This was broadcast on several news bulletins.

Sadly, Dermot has passed. His brother, Brendan has been SNP MP for Argyll these last several years. The O'Hara family were one of the six founding families of ra Sellik in November 1887. The O'Hara brothers held original shares in the original company. When Brendan was elected to Westminster, his social media history was exposed. Lots of 'H' term usage and when challenged he often replied with the refrain from the Sellik song, "we don't care what the animals say". Brendan has never explained who the animals are.

Brendan offered a one line apology for his past and that was that.

Finally, after the last independence referendum there was a study into the voting intentions of Scottish football clubs supporters. Rangers supporters registered 40% in support of independence, the highest of all clubs. We used to have a number of posters on Gersnet who supported independence but they have largely withdrawn hors de combat. A pity I say. I want to know the mindset and debate only makes all of us stronger.

The reason for this is pretty simple. The left cannot bear the ongoing Tory rule in the UK. Labour have only been in power for 13 of the last 42 years (30%). Of course that was with their most right wing leader of all time. What’s worse, they have just suffered their biggest defeat since the 30s.

Even going way back as far back as 1922, the left’s time in power only rises to 35%. That is the single biggest issue for the independence supporting Rangers fans I know. They want a socialist utopia because they can’t put the blasted Guardian down.

Agree with all, with following additions:

1. And war mongerer

2. Never gonna happen as it is never a Utopia when Socialists are in power anywhere, just ask the Venezualans.

3. The Guardian circulation is now less than 100k even with bulk Union sales, so probably only 80k readers in UK.

I have bought into not doing things that are racist or sectarian, yes.
