[FT] St Mirren 1 - 2 Rangers (Roofe 42pen; Morelos 43)

Recommended Posts

An atrocious first 25mins or so but credit to the players, we dragged ourselves into the game and I believe we thoroughly deserve our half-time lead after a flurry of decent chances.

We simply can't afford to start games like that though.  We must have known St Mirren would come out the traps but we struggled to get anywhere near them early doors - even if they only really had one worldie to show for their possession.  We seemed to be sitting far too deep and it wasn't until we pushed Tav especially further on that we were able to get a foothold further up the pitch.

A lot of football to be played in this match though so we must approach the second 45mins like we did the second quarter of the game.  Anything less and we may well be punished.

Saints came out storming, cracking shot by the loaned Irishman, even though McLaughlin had the Sun straight into his eyes (no excuse, just an observation). Roundabout the 30 min mark Saints tired and the equaliser was well deserved ... Alfredo`s 100th was sweet. We need to weather any early storm after the break, which is bound to come, perhaps get on Sakala and Bacuna early on for counter attacks and to spare Alfredo a red ... given that he just needs one foul for a yellow in Scotland ...

1 minute ago, der Berliner said:

Two from headers (straight at him), one from Hagi?

And another curler from Hagi near the end.

We looked to be wanting to shoot a bit more which was good and will be useful in the 2nd half with the sun and wind at our backs.
