James Bisgrove says he's disappointed with the fans reaction to the Sydney Cup.

“We’ve obviously seen the reaction and to be candid, we’re disappointed.

“When the opportunity came [to speak to fans] we want to do that. For the support not to see this in a positive light is not something we’re comfortable with but what we want to get across is the reasons we’ve made this decision. We feel the supporters who are disappointed will be the same supporters who will demand this club be successful on the pitch and that’s what’s driven this decision. It is to give the best possible resources to the club to be successful and be competitive.”

Wow. Is that a genuine quote?

Da fuck does he think he is?

Bisgrove's job is to grab money making opportunities for the club, which is exactly what he's done here.

Park or Graham should be the ones telling him 'Thanks but no!'.

Exactly this. Bisgrove is as much a Rangers man as any other random person. He is a commercial/marketing professional and probably a good one.

This proposal would have needed sign off at senior board levels, that's where the issue lies for me.

He may be a good commercial professional, but he sure is not a diplomat.

Again I'd expect some within the club (commercial and media types) to have him briefed a bit better. I don't agree with or can excuse his comments but allowing him to say it and almost chucking his toys out the pram with a response like that was an insult to the support.

From a purely economic perspective, there isn't much wrong with what he said.  Marketing men don't give a flying f*ck about history or rivalry.

We all want the club to maximise revenue and spend big because it means we'll sign better players and win things.

For most of us though, the positives of this particular financial opportunity are heavily outweighed by the negative aspects (associating with scum and playing domestic matches overseas).
