I'll just reply to this thread like its on running, posted the XI for the Ireland warmup tomorrow below.

This is the intention; that's why I started it.

Is Tongue an all-rounder?

I'm an enthusiastic watcher over the summer months, but my knowledge is lacking. I rely on posters to point me in the right direction.

He is yeah, right handed. Would say he's definitely more of a bowler, I think he's had a few fifer's in first-class cricket but hasn't made a 50 yet.

Can't think of many players who still knock in 50's and get fifer's to be fair, would say Stokes but his body couldn't get 5 wickets for love nor money.

Jason Holder maybe?

You’re not an all-rounder unless you score fifties regularly so you’re right to call Tongue a bowler who can bat a bit.

I confess I hadn’t been aware of him so thanks for alerting us.

I won't finish until 1/2ish so haven't heard what the batting order will be, but I'm guessing he'll be lower middle order... say 6 or 7. Woakes would get more runs but it's a good time for Stokes and McCullum to try some things out.

Batting order not available. It won’t be far off the above but I expect Brook will go in ahead of Stokes and Bairstow.

Foakes should have been selected as WK.

Broad at nine makes the batting look strong.

Tongue bowling well.

The Irish commentator on TMS is good

Looks healthy for England at lunch then, Broad with a trademark spell by all accounts.

Good wicket in Stirling, seriously underrated player. Knocks in 50's and hundreds regularly across 3 formats.

Ireland 147 for 8 it’s been as expected but a pleasant match to watch otherwise

Aye, I've only caught the afternoon session but it's been good. Tongue has been bowling his heart out with quality.

Some tighter wicket defence and Ireland won't be far away, players like Tucker and Stirling are good enough to score well for them. Like the comms have said, historically teams have struggled when beginning as a test side but the game is growing over there so hopefully they can keep going.
