Don't forget when Pele played the ball was much heavier and the boots were also probably heavier. Most keepers were lucky to kick the ball past the half-way line in those days,now they can throw it further. When Pele almost scored from the half-way line against Russia(i think) it was something never seen before, now it is far easier. It is not totally fair to judge on tv footage as it was a different type of game.

Is it not true that Italian players that play outside Italy don't get seleted for the national squad. I heard this is what stopped Del P going to man u years ago.

 

If so theres no chance he will go abroad.
