The dear green place

Recommended Posts

I will be going home tomorrow after spending almost a month in Glasgow on hospital duty and that time gave me a look at the old city and it isn’t nice empty shops tramps and beggars blight a once proud city it’s going to take someone with a cunning plan to save it because it’s in a sorrowful state.

It's nothing new - been beggers and vagrants in Glasgow (and most big cities) for centuries.

Empty shops down in every city centre across the UK so not unique to Glasgow. Mostly down to people no longer going to shops, buying everything on-line.

I only really visit two local shops (record stores) rest of my shopping is done on-line.

And the LEZ zones are just gonna make it worse.

That’s true but the numbers have risen dramatically compared to the 1940s - early 60s and they are much bolder. I believe some even commute into “work”.

Yeah, same all over the UK - Glasgow isn't "unique" in that respect or any of Compo's gripes.

I will say this again, the SNP's Convenor, Susan Aitken's first decision was to appointed a Policy Advisor. His name is Gerry Braiden, he is Falls Road(Belfast) born and bred. He cares nothing for Glasgow, nor the majority of it's residents. Take a look at his Twitter account, dominated by postings about his favourite green'n'grey hooped horrors. As for Rangers supporters and Rangers, his first decision was to suggest the formation of the Ibrox and Cessnock Residents Association. This was the lever utilised by GCC to stymie Rangers purchase of the much under used Ibrox Sports Complex.

As for the homeless, the decline of the city centre and, the crumbling infrastructure; Gerry does not care, keeping his snout in the flowing trough is his major concern. After his beloved Sellik of course.

Glasgow tends to get the best touring bands and is home to Rangers Football Club.  If it wasn't for these reasons, I doubt I'd ever visit.

It's like a bigger version of Dundee.
