Calling me a liar then?

Put it this way. I think you’re so burdened with chips on your shoulder about socialism and nationalism that forming an honest view of the world must be almost impossible. You’re welcome.

And you must be well-balanced with chips on both shoulders. I'm a socialist not a nationalist. No dichotomy there. And the SNP are assuredly not socialist before you accuse me of being an SNP schill.

 'rebellious Scots to crush'

When you resort to a complete myth and sell it as wisdom …. that’s probably the time for serious reappraisal of your beliefs 😏

Talking about 'rising again' I take to refer to Flodden when the flower of Scotland were crushed but maybe I'm wrong; you need to ask Roy Williamson who's deid now anyway

It's about the battle of Bannockburn.

Those days are passed now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be a nation again

Seems fairly clear that the rising is talking about present day (note the use of "now") and not the Battle of Flodden.

If Williamson were referring to Bannockburn he should have remembered that the losers, although indeed an army of Edward, the Edward in question wasn’t all that proud. The proud one had died seven years before on his way to hammer us again.

If he’s referring to Stirling Bridge the vanquished army was one of proud Edward’s right enough but it might have been the second eleven because the big team were in Europe that day. And we lost the replay at Falkirk. Puir auld Scotland, eh?

After almost 25 years of devolution, it's clear to me that the chances of Scotland ever being "the nation again" and "rising now" are as close to zero as makes no difference. As always, that deep and persistent flaw in the Scottish character that unerringly puts forward crooks and cretins to do the rising has predictably brought us back to our knees.
