Minimum pricing of alcohol

Recommended Posts

I read that the Scottish Government is likely to increase the minimum price from 50p to 65p per unit.

The consequence of that would be the minimum price of whisky would be £18.20. 1820 was the year of the Radical Rising in Scotland when there was a week of strikes and unrest in Scotland that culminated in the trial of a number of 'radicals' for the crime of treason. Maybe they thought this would be a wheeze as they fancy themselves as radicals.

However an other consequence is that the minimum price of a bottle of vodka would become £16.90.

A consequence of this sort of tripe is kids with alcoholic parents will be pushed further into poverty.

People with a drink problem will just cut back on other things.

Hopefully the whisky industry oppose it.

Or parents with alcoholic children.

We await comment from Dundee City Council's official spokesperson on both alcohol and drug addiction, Nadia El-Nakla.

You may remember Dundee City Councillor, Nadia? She meets world leaders and talks incessantly about her brother(the Doctor) trapped in Gaza because neither the UK(not a citizen) nor, Egypt or Turkey will take him. Oh, she has another brother up on drug dealing and possession charges and, being questioned about a chap who died after thrown from a second storey window in Clootie City. Nadia has taken a vow of omerta since the window incident.

Perhaps the increase in alcohol unit pricing is the window of opportunity required to get her speaking again?

Alcohol is ridiculously cheap in this country. It should be doubled at least. No one needs it, anyone who can't afford it, shouldn't buy it. Anyone who can't afford it and still buys it deserves all the misery it brings.
