Ibrox Regeneration

FOLLOWING media enquiries today, the club would like to inform its fans that it is currently assessing a number of proposals for the development and regeneration around Ibrox.

At present we are analysing three strategies which would enhance the development of the existing outline planning proposals for the Hinshelwood area to the south of the stadium.

One of the strategies includes the total rebuilding of Ibrox Stadium while retaining the brick facade, the tradition and the integrity of the Bill Struth Main Stand. The Club stresses that at this time it is assessing these proposals and no decisions will be reached imminently.

Further details will be announced at the appropriate time.

What's all this about then?

No no no ... Rangers. Don't ruin our beautiful stadium and build something bigger that resembles legoland across the city!!

as far as i know, the BS main stand is a listed building, and so cant be knocked down or replaced.

so I guess what they mean by "total rebuilding of Ibrox Stadium" is that they will knock everything down, except BSMS and build something new yet appropriate around it...

maybe gers have been speaking to council re: potential planning permission etc or getting an estimate from a leak in a firm they have consulted about potential feasible expansion plans and they wanted to release a statement b4 the papers go crazy??

Your right the main stand is a monument and has to keep it's outside features. Apart from that they can demolish the lot. I don't think they built the other stands to add a new tier at a later date so they will need to demolish to build.

Interesting! I cant see where the money comes from for a total re-furb of Ibrox. Bar72 cost the best part of a few million so 3 new stands wouldnt be cheap!!

Until we know the full details of what is required then we cant really discuss what to do but id still like to see those screens taken away and the stands becoming more steep to create a better atmosphere - a bit like Dortmund and Newcastle (2 ends).

And with most big building projects in the UK, The Dome, Hampden, Portcullis House, The Scottish Parliament, The London Olympics - they all went over budget -also is their not some kinda credit problem, down turn going on at the moment, ohhh and oil has hit $100 a barrell. Good time to start a massive rebuidling project of Ibrox if this poo is true.

Will we not just go and build the casino too. Just fir a lauggh.

I see we still have plans for a lovely hotel.
