Rangers condemn banner at Old Firm game

Recommended Posts

I didn't see the game but now reading about the fallout etc. With regards to the banner, as much as the faux outrage is to be expected by that lot and their merry band of media puppets, I'm just disappointed that they are even referred to at all. Tifos of that nature obviously take a lot planning, time and effort but why refer to them at all? Its exactly what they and their acolytes want. We have a rich history of amazing players, managers and success. Can we not celebrate that without having to sully all your hard work by aiming at them?

With regards to the current board getting it in the neck, I'm pretty sure an imminent takeover by an international consortium is having an influence on how they want to operate. We are on the verge of a deal that will undoubtedly change our on and off the field fortunes and at long last propel us into the 21st century as a modern sporting organisation. This is not the time for the current incumbents to start making waves with statements IMO.

Lastly...for the idiots who threw a glass bottle onto the pitch. F**k off and don't come back.

The pretend tit for tat offence/outrage is all a bit pathetic from both sides and only makes it easier for the authorities to clamp down with ever more draconian measures against free speech in general.

Wheesht: don't exercise freedom of speech, just in case 'the authorities' decide to try to stop you doing so.

And the outcome is.....

Still fuming at the fucking audacity of the board tbh.

Their scummy fans were mocking the Ibrox disaster today, and we're apologising for a banner at them.

Rotten.

If they were singing about the disaster then maybe someone should have recorded it; that is truly offensive, worse than calling someone scum.

By the way, where did this word tifo come from? It's just a banner as far as I'm concerned, though I'm curious to know how and where they are made; is there some specialist company somewhere does them?

Is it not Italian in origin? Or derived from an Italian word? Tifosa or something like that?

The success of this humorous but nonetheless powerful working-class rejection of terrorist glorification by Scotland's Establishment club at the last Old Firm game is proved by the fact that the hypocritical criticisms arise from a mainly left-wing, bourgeois audience.
