  1. Yes it is Zappa; but the point he made to me was that at the level that he would want to invest it would be much more than a spare time thing and that the amount of time (full-time he described it as) would be inconsistent with the performance of his day job. He has a good reputation as a fund manager and he doesn't want to lose it.

I'm taking from your info that he wants to invest, but it is far from certain that he will, based on the fact he can't give the time to look after his investment in the club.

Also, it worries me that PM is dropping his name before it really should have been?

  2. I think if used as a wide midfielder and not an out and out winger vs a full back, he will be a solid player for us who will contribute plenty.

I would however like to see him on the right, it's obvious he likes to cut in, and the lack of "getting to the bye-line" was a major problem for us last night and Saturday.

  3. I do find it amazing that the forth-coming Sectarianism Bill is limited only to football and the internet.

I'm led to believe Christine Grahame MSP will be the convener of the lead committee of the Bill so given she was a keen defender of al-Megrahi and is extremely anti-monarchy, I doubt she'll be overly concerned about a few republican bands anyway.

I've seen you mention this a few times Frankie, and it hasn't seemed to have registered among us yet.

The whole "anti-sectarian" legislation is nothing more than a carve-up and a farce.

  4. I would like to thank everyone for their contributions and I am encouraged by the interest shown.

The influence being wielded by ra Sellik from representation at the highest level, has been considerable. It's only a couple of years past that four members of Westminster CSC were members of the British Government Cabinet. John Reid, Des Browne, Jim Murphy, and Brian Wilson were four members of 18. No other club in the UK could boast such influence. Westminster CSC was founded 15 years ago and is open to both Houses of Parliament, it's membership has never fell below 50.

The cronyism involved has been considerable and goes across party divide. Denis Cannavan was a Labour MP for quarter of a century, he was dismayed when he was NOT selected by the Labour Party to be a MSP in 1999. He stood as an independent and won his local seat in Falkirk. He retired in 2007 and immediately transferred his support to fellow Sellik season ticket holder and SNP candidate, Michael Mathieson who has won the same seat the last two elections.

Nepotism is another huge problem among Sellik minded representitives. The last Speaker of the House of Commons, Michael Martin ensured his son, Paul Martin was a shoo in as a MSP for the same seat, Springburn. The McCabes, McAvoys, McElhones, ......etc have all acted similarly.

My own MSP, Michael McMahon has been involved in nepotism twice. After election in 1999, he was the last of the 129 MSPs to speak at Holyrood, almost two years after the opening. His first contribution was at the specific request of Cardinal Winning. The topic was Clause 28, he was determined that information on homosexuality would NOT be made available in denominational schools. Michael was horrorfied his children would be subjected to such information; however, we could only assume child rape by the school chaplin was not such a horrorfying thought?

Anyway, just after Mad Mick's first contribution, the Polis raided his Holyrood office and took away his official personal computer. Subsequently, his Research Assistant(and nephew) was charged with five counts of child porn downloads. McMahon's next go at nepotism has been far more successful, last Thursday Siobhan McMahon was elected as a MSP on the central Scotland list. I believe she is 26, graduated five years past, worked in the meantime as Jim Murphy MP'S Research Assistant. Siobhan is Michael's daughter and like her old man has been heavily involved in the census Irish ethnicity, the Irish Famine memorial at Carfin, and Sellik season ticket holder.

Let's hope all these Yahoos leading the dolce vita as MP s, MSPs, and Councilors; end up in the same place as former MP and professional Sellik supporter, Jim Devine.

And the next question is why do we have to come on to a Rangers forum rather than our press and media to read such well researched and important info on our public representatives??

  5. And here we have one of the underlying factors in why there is such general unrest and antagonism towards Celtic and their manager.

Their supports' misdeeds constantly go without punishment or even reporting, whilst our support are never out of the firing line, and are even targetted by prejudiced lobbyists.

  6. Until the support are in an informed position to form an opinion on what is the more suitable way forward, we are in the dark.

At the moment I cannot see how being debt free, with a new owner and new ideas, can be worse than the status quo and our failed board of directors. (if we are indeed to be truly debt free.......)

  7. Leckie is a fat nobody, who cannae get a burd.

Another in a long line of parasitic journo hacks who can't stop writing about how bad and nasty the Old Firm is despite it keeping their poxy publications afloat (and their jobs) through their sensationalist Old Firm related tripe.

Have the courage of your convictions Bill and walk in to your editor tomorrow and tell him you don't want to report or attend Old Firm games again, I dare ye.

  8. I had a "discussion" with a tim today who was telling me how "this was our opportunity for our decent supporters to show they are above the bile".

I told him that while the vast majority if not all, of our support obviously see the bombs as a step too far, but there was no chance of ANY support for Lennon.

As far as I'm concerned we're on a hiding to nothing with this one. If we do show sympathy then we are basically the biggest soft touches in history, if we don't we are the baddies as usual.

At the end of the day, who gives a flyer, we get no credit anyway.

  9. Right. I never say shit like this but. My best mates boss, whom i know too plays golf with Park. He has categorically stated to my mates Boss he wil not buy rangers. Now, this isn't two business guys talking, this is two good friends talking.

I know if i read one of you lot saying this i'd be sceptical, so take it with the big bunch of salt it should be

Park won't buy Rangers or Whyte won't buy Rangers?? :D

  10. The Ibrox Land Bank: It baffles me that we have Rangers supporters heading to Pizzahut, McDonalds, Wee Rangers Club, Stadium Bar and every pub on PRW, yet the club have never even come close to having a supporter friendly food and beverage proposition near Ibrox. I presume this would have been part of the casino project?

Regardless, we see these types of supporter villages at loads of away grounds on our european travels and I suspect even the most simple of market research would confirm there is a demand for a Rangers orientated leisure experience for pre and post match.

  11. I think what most Rangers fans want is a sense of justice. At the recent OF game there were many thousands singing TBB, many of whom did so in the full knowledge it would be heavily criticized but who harbour a profound feeling of playing patsy in a rigged game and saw the singing as a way of fighting back. These same fans have mostly avoided singing TBB out of care for their club for a longtime but still chose to use it as a gesture of defiance against those who have contrived the sitiation we find ourselves in.

It's inequality of justice that lies at the heart of this whole issue and that problem won't be solved by boycotting TBB, whether ot not you advocate singing it or not.

Only the club has the key to this. Rangers fans have been vilified for years, mostly without real justification, and many feel abandoned by the club they support. Not because the club rightly tries to curb bad behaviour but because the club fails to challenge our detractors when it's obvious a great deal (all) of the so-called offence being caused is completely manufactured.

TBB may have traditional value but I personally doubt it would be a problem for most fans to let it go - so long as there was a belief that all clubs would be treated equally. We know that's not the case today and this will continue to be a problem for the club until the club decides to get into the fight.

One of the best posts I've read on the subject anywhere.

  12. At the time of this article, NO ONE knew who the good guys or the bad guys within our club were.

The target always has been, and still is, David Murray. He alone can sell us or not.
