Lloyds, which bought rival HBOS last year, has the largest branch network in the UK, with 3,000 outlets, and almost 30 per cent of the current account market. The Commission warned Lloyds it may be forced to divest its flagship Halifax brand, but the bank is thought to have negotiated a less drastic penalty.
