Rangers kid Ross Perryâ??s four-year deal

Rangers youngster Ross Perry today signed a new four-year deal with the Scottish champions.

The 21-year-old put pen to paper on the contract having made the breakthrough to the first team this season. The defender previously had loan spells at Falkirk and Oxford over the last two seasons, but the current campaign has seen Perry given his chance by manager Ally McCoist.

He came off the bench to make his senior competitive debut as a replacement for the injured Kyle Bartley in last monthâ??s 2-0 win at Inverness.

The young centre-half has since started Clydesdale Bank Premier League games against Motherwell and Aberdeen and made his European bow as a substitute in the Europa League play-off against Maribor.

Meanwhile, McCoist has warned his players to beware the threat of Dundee United duo Johnny Russell and Scott Allan at Tannadice tomorrow.

Peter Houstonâ??s side have been shorn of the attacking talents of David Goodwillie after the striker joined Blackburn last month, but McCoist will not take the Tayside outfit lightly.

The Gers boss was this week linked with a move for Allan and, after seeing the playmaker and United pal Russell star for their country against Bulgaria, he is well aware of the threat they will pose.

â??I was at Scotlandâ??s Under-21 game on Monday and I thought Russell and Allan did really well,â? McCoist said.

Rangers head into their United clash on top of the SPL after dropping just two points in the opening five matches of their title defence.

The champions thrived on their last away day as they eased past high-flying Motherwell and McCoist is targeting another Tannadice triumph.

He said: â??We enjoy going up to Tannadice, but the one thing youâ??re guaranteed of there is a really difficult game.

â??We like the battle and the physical aspect, and weâ??ve had some good days up there in recent seasons.â?

McCoist will be able to call upon Australian international Matt McKay for the first time tomorrow after he finally arrived in Glasgow.

â??It was great to meet everyone and they all made me feel really welcome, which was nice, too,â? McKay told Blues News.

â??Now I need to start remembering names and putting them to faces.â?

Hopefully he makes the full breakthrough in the next few years.

QUOTE=Dutchy;275024]That's only good news. With a four year contract, at least when we sell him, we should get some cash for him.

In a negative frame of mind today Dutchy? You could have said great for the lad to see No.58.;)

I could have, that's true, but as everyone seems to think that football is about money, I thought I'd have some fun with the brainless individuals that tell me money is king.
