Happy 40th Anniversary Rangers

Today marks the 40th Anniversary of our magnificent achievement of European glory.

 

Just wondering how many Bears on Gersnet were actually at the game?

 

I missed out because my dad said I was too young to go, I think the real reason though was he couldn't afford to take me with him. He's always denied it.

Forty years ago just about now we were stuck in traffic on a bus in Barcelona going to the airport where we spent the night and most of the next day before we got our flight to Prestwick where waited for the team to arrive to cheer them. Unfortunately in doing that we gave up our chance to get to Ibrox before them and missed the lap of honour on the lorry they did in the teeming rain that night.

 

£35 for the flight (a turbo prop), buses, match ticket and two nights in an (unfinished) hotel in Lloret de Mar (hence the nick). Happiest day of my life.

Was there for sure and will never forget it. The final was played on my 20th. Birthday and the flight over etc. was to be my present but seeing us win a Euro trophy was the best present anyone could ever have. Cost £39 for 2 nights half board in 3* hotel also transfers and match ticket.

Before all you clever lot start doing your sums. Yes I was 60 yesterday

Happy belated birthday mate, I was still in nappies so I wasn't there, couldn't get a ticket for Manchester but will never forget the day can only imagine what it would've been like if we had won.
