  1. The manager who gave us Kaunas will be getting no slack from this Bear. Neither will the manager who plays for draws, constantly plays players out of position, perseveres with players tragically out of form, claims to have seen disastrous results coming, signs players for good money only to never play them so we have to try and punt our top goalscorer, and makes contemptuous statements about the fans in the media.

The UEFA Final was as much down to Cuellar, McGregor and Lady Luck as it was to Smith. It's also worth pointing out that Manchester was nine months ago. History. Just as with 9IAR, it simply cannot be used as a justification to forgive him his faults in the present.

Would this thread have been started if Celtic hadn't their worst run of form this decade?

There has been nothing on these Smith threads which makes me think he is deserving of praise for his current work. Support, maybe, but I prefer to support the players who are doing the business on the park. If we bring it home in May it will be thanks to Mendes, Bougherra, Boyd and the rest of the boys in blue.

  2. I think that's the way it should be, Gazza. But everyone needs to put there hands together in a big way for Davie Weir whenever he does go. If only he had arrived sooner. I've so much admiration for him as a pro and as a committed Rangers man.

    (See, it's not all criticism)

Hear hear MF. Someone who really deserves a league winner's medal.

Did you know he has now played more games for Rangers than he did for Hearts?

  3. When Van der Sar saved Anelka's spot-kick to win the Champions League last season and the entire Man Utd squad ran to him to celebrate, while Ronaldo just slumped to the ground in the centre circle by himself - that was arguably his lowest moment. I'd be surprised if guys like Scholes, Neville, Giggs or even Fergie himself didn't have a word with him after that. Of course you're free to celebrate as you like, but it didn't send out a great message.

  4. Rangers would'nt be where they are right now if it was'nt for his goals and just think back to last seasons cis cup final, we were almost a beaten team and there would'nt have been a league cup in the ibrox trophy room if it was'nt for him. :rfc:

Add the Scottish Cup to that.

  5. Would be very worthwhile having Davie Weir at the club next year, but not as a first-team regular. Sort of a Steven Pressley role, coaching the defenders and youngsters while stepping in to the team when required. Would be a shame not to make use of someone with Weir's experience and knowledge of the game - and a Bluenose at that.

  6. With reference to rant no.1, I think now is the time to start going at teams - particularly at home - with the intention of beating them and beating them well. 2002/03 was really the last time we stuck a few past teams on a regular basis, and though easier said than done, it's the best way of crushing Celtic's spirit. Say on Saturday we not only go three points clear but do it via a thumping 3 or 4-0 win, then the pessimism increases at Parkhead. Whenever we really need the chimps to drop points, and then they go and rack up a few goals, it's a bit of a kick in the stones. Time to start doing it to them, the message being: Get out of our way, this league's ours.

  7. OK, sounds good, lets list and celebrate everything that is good about Kris Boyd - I'll start...

    He scores goals...

    Who's next :)

    Cammy F

He is proof that the monster munch diet is conducive to being a successful sportsman after all

  8. As Chief Sportswriter on The Herald, Spiers controlled the sport output for a newspaper selling 66,350 copies a day.

He is now a mere sportswriter for The Times in Scotland, writing for 27,250 readers.

I also believe his publisher slashed his advance for the Paul Le Guen book.

How come you weren't at Euro 2008 Queersie?

    Next stop the Ayr Advertiser.

Just where is it you think this little crusade is getting you, you discredited little creep?

  9. Ah yes, this'll be the Graham Spiers that even five years ago was describing us with language such as:-

    ââ?¬Å?Rancid chantingââ?¬Â¦..total embarrassmentââ?¬Â¦Ã¢â?¬Â¦putrid stench.....savages....poisonous singing... ..desecration.....cavemen.....wholesale yobbishness....vile troglodytesââ?¬Â¦..stinking, bigoted, religious stuffââ?¬Â¦Ã¢â?¬Â¦backward cultureââ?¬Â¦..almost to a manââ?¬Â.

He must have been spending some quality time with his South American dial-a-rent boy if he didn't hear the IRAoke begin 4mins 30secs into yesterday's match at Motherwell (Boys of the Old Brigade if he's interested:rolleyes:).

Incidentally, this "whataboutery" B.O. Bhoy refers to - should that not simply be a pseudonym for unbiased journalism?

We've all known for a while now that the corduroyed cowboy is teetering on the edge of sanity, however it was the following couple of paragraphs that had me raising my eyebrows:-

"Having enjoyed the excellent grub of the Rangers boardroom in my time, I can now say for certain that the culinary skills of its Celtic counterpart are just as good ââ?¬â?? perhaps even a tad more exotic ââ?¬â?? after an enjoyable experience last Thursday evening.

On the eve of Celticââ?¬â?¢s half-year figures, a group of the nationââ?¬â?¢s most eminent hacks ââ?¬â?? thatââ?¬â?¢s meant as a joke ââ?¬â?? were invited to chew and quaff with Peter Lawwell, the Celtic chief executive, and John Reid, the clubââ?¬â?¢s chairman. And, while the conversation was highly intriguing, what a night of juicy fayre it was."

    what...the...fff:confused:

And apparently we "dont really mind a wee drop of racism like The Famine Song". Now, seeing as despite their best efforts the chimps haven't succeeded in having this deemed racist by a court of law, or indeed by anyone other than themselves and their own faux-offended ilk, surely the above statement by Queersie is libel?

Having had a lean few years, the man is absolutely desperate for a repeat of his 2006 moment in the sun with UEFA.

Let's not beat about the bush, this is the real reason Spiers penned that article:-

Ever closer B.O. Bhoy, ever closer...

  10. Booth isnt really pro-Celtic though is he ? Is he not just anti-Rangers ? Wee scrotum !

That's pretty much the sum of it, though anti-Rangers sentiment often takes the form of wanting Celtic to win. Rangers ruined Booth's career in the 90s and I suspect he's still bitter.
