  1. Well, that's about our level against them. We're basically 2-0 behind them in the big picture. Or in alternative parlance, £40 million.

You'll hear no complaint against Dave King from me. He's a Rangers man like all of us on here. But let's be honest, without the requisite investment in playing staff, we are basically another Hearts.

Tom English made a pertinent point on the wireless today. He was talking about how when Old Firm fixtures come round, people still assume that Rangers should be expecting to match Celtic. Yes, maybe in 2011, but look at us and them top to bottom and we're basically another Hearts, i.e. will put up a fight and maybe beat them once every couple of seasons, and win a trophy or two every ten years with a bit of luck. And before I get the usual about being a pessimist, let's hear the evidence to the contrary.

We can absolutely beat them, just as long as they don't find third gear. For their second goal today they did exactly what we did time and again to Tommy Burns' teams: five minutes of pressure in the final third, they get it straight up the park, penalty, goal, game over.

With that said, it's not Caixinha's or the players' fault. They do what they can with what they have, and I thought the second half brought yet another reminder of what a sad day for the club it will be when Kenny Miller calls it a day.

If King is serious about this, he should give Caixinha free f*cking reign in the summer. A lot of that team needs sold. And I'm sorry, but either I've been blind these last couple of years or Barrie McKay simply doesn't have what it takes to be a Rangers player.

  2. Barca might have pulled a big deficit back against a French mob, but it isn't happening against Juve.

As a child of the 80s/90s, I'd love to see a resurgence of Italian football. Sadly in recent years only Juve have threatened. Aren't they on about six titles in a row this season?

  3. I'm still baffled that anybody seriously proposed/proposes that this sheep crew are anything like a solid second force in Scotland. Granted they might have been when we weren't there but now we're back despite the hiccups of this season in which we consistently misfired we have still met them 3 times so far and outplayed them on each occasion. They totally stole a result in the first meeting and just didn't get so freakishly lucky again.

I would be content with a third place finish that accompanied another thrashing of these hammer throwers at Ibrox to firmly remind them where their real place in the order of things is. During our enforced absence they seem to have forgotten it.

    Couldn't agree more.

This season will be their third consecutive second-place finish, but as you say, well, we've been away. I too get the distinct impression that three years of being 'best of the rest' has given them some bizarre sense of entitlement, that they are 'back' and 'here to stay'. Don't believe it for a second. I'll make a prediction here and now that as we continue on our steady upward trajectory next season, there will be rumblings of discontent amongst the sheep.

I hope for their sake they have enjoyed the last few years, because the days of easy trophies and league-placings will not be coming back.

  4. Given that JJ has just joined up again and where we were at the weekend, a neat blast from the past:

(Wonder how Gio and some others would be treated by the modern day board community ... )

I was there! Great game. Amato and Sir Jonatan of Johanssonshire on fire. You could feel the seethe emanating from the home end. Lovely.

  5. I'll wait until more details come out before casting aspersions on this one.

However, I've said it before so I'll say it again: Michael O'Halloran is about as far away from Rangers class as the current squad has. A braindead signing at £500k.

  6. Ever the optimist, dB.

Looks like a player right enough.

I was willing to back Warburton with a few things, but it was clear to me early doors that Dodoo was a player. I'd be starting him most weeks - I'm sure you'd find posts from me months ago saying the same. I still can't understand what Warburton had against him.

On the topic of Mark Walters - £20m in today's game.
