  1. Tom English must've been availing himself of the literary fruits of the drug addled imagination of Philip K Dick recently.

Apparently, Precrime and the projection thereof, is a welcome byproduct of these hateful, orwellian times in which we live. Especially when safety in numbers can be comfortably assumed thanks to  those taxpayer funded airwaves. Defaming a UK sports media heavyweight, who just happens to be Rangers all-time leading goalscorer and a former club manager, is but a mere trifle in the greater battle for civil obedience and essential mind control.

Rugby loving Tom has allegedly since claimed that he 'went too far', stopping short of an actual apology. Apparently, contrition is just a ten letter word?

Maybe a legal missive fired up Auntie's farter by Mr McCoist's lawyers might prompt the dismissal of PQ's Chief Sports Reporter?

    Over to you Ally.

No rebuke my good man but I did say above it’s bbc R Scotland Sportsound not the bleeding Brains Trust.

Agreed mate, but alas it isn’t an unplugged recording session. At risk of preaching to the converted, Kenny has someone in his ear directing conversational traffic.

Gersnet’s day will come on BBC PQ. It’s just unlikely to be anytime soon. Sorely needed change is required first though. When that is is anyone’s guess.

There might have been a majority vote for accepting a BBC invitation but in fact there was little offered by way of coherent justification. Much was essentially "get intae them" and "give them a piece of our mind", neither of which would have lasted beyond the introduction music. It was a trap waiting to be sprung and undoubtedly the right decision was reached.

Bill, for me, the even handed and measured appearance of Gersnet as a fans media platform (certainly via the podcast) is presumably why Frankie is/was approached. Does Auntie’s branch office and the mandarins therein perceive ‘us’ as being less zealot like in our partisanship and therefore more pliable?

I’ve heard Kenny before - he tiptoes through the tulips because ultimately, he knows the fate that will befall him if he rocks the boat. Frankie or any other Gersnet rep would be dressed up to suit the agenda no matter how much Kenny tries his best to go easy. You know that. I know that. And Frankie knows that. I’m not so sure that there others out there who necessarily grasp the gravity of certain situations when interacting with media types whose ‘daily’ job involves ‘crafting’ a story.

Some may rebuke me with the accusation that I credit the BBC with too much savvy in that regard, and that in the process, declining to appear may well be selling Rangers supporters’ intelligence short. But the inescapable facts remain, PQ is controlled by people who are not interested in a) allowing themselves to be justifiably criticised publicly and b) promoting ‘good’ Rangers PR.

Until the status quo is altered, appearances on BBC Scotland’s platforms in the interests of fairness and equal representation should be considered a lofty ambition.

  4. Frankie, here’s my tuppence worth.

Until there are Rangers supporting producers and editors controlling the BBC Scotland Sport output, then I’d politely tell them where to go. Having a Rangers fan like Kenny McIntyre presenting, imho, is moot.

You or A.N. Other would just be utilised as the token H u n.

That may sound paranoid, harsh or something in between. But when push comes to shove, it’s the reality of the situation however unpalatable.

You know the score mate, you would most definitely be behind enemy lines dealing with them. We need weight of numbers before engaging.

I did. I thought he was pretty lively.

(Then I got bored and didn't watch as much as the game went on... :D )

You should be able to see who voted for whom. I made it so votes are public. Just click on the little man icon.

    Ahhh.

He was reasonably lively in the first half but completely anonymous in the second. The fact that you weren’t really watching might explain why you opted for him.

The performance was turgid all round but Kent tried to make things happen for most of the game and would probably get my vote if you held a gun to my head.

But given that there is no gun, I’ll politely abstain. 🙃

  6. Stevie Thompson and Neil McCann apart, their collective pain is strangely invigorating.

What with Carson’s, Donohoe’s and English’s input, their collective output is about as objective as being strapped to an armchair and forced to watch an episode of that other byproduct of the emerald isle, Mrs Brown’s boys is funny.

Just about as funny as a dose and objective as Pravda in equal measure.

  7. The crazies have asked for Rangers fans thoughts and their take on the last decade. Self awareness is alive and well it seems at PQ.

Doubtless some non-bluenoses will be indulged in order to fill the vacuum.

Again, what will BBC Scotland's Sports Correspondent, Chris McLaughlin be doing tonight?

Dispensing with aforementioned innuendo, I’d hazard a guess at him being overly agitated by the need to pull his wire at the thought of the next ‘big name’ to be linked with the Sharkheid electric chair.

Doubtless he has thoroughly exhausted his period of mental self-flagellation caused by the nightmare of prompting his erstwhile squeeze to switch ticket and scratch the gnawing itch that is ‘putting from the rough’.

As the fireworks explode above PQ and the Gang Hut chorus Hail, Hail; spare a thought for calamitous Chris. Only last year, his squeeze, Eilidh Barbour left him for a Sky female golfing colleague. Apparently, Chris did not have feet big enough to fill the spikey shoes? Further, Chris's bi-weekly appointment with Peter's cheese will soon be confined to warm nostalgia. Let's hope Connie and Eilidh are not sharing a beard? It would be too much.

As emotions erupt in the Gang Hut, those listening carefully will hear Chris screaming, 'it should have been me'.

    Hilarious stuff.

Has Sleletor’s latest misdemeanour escaped unnoticed by 26th?

  10. No offence was intended on my part and I wouldn’t want to needlessly impinge on the solemn nature of such a poignant anniversary. Although I don’t have any direct familial connection to the events of that fateful day, I do know someone who came perilously close to being involved in the carnage.

For this reason, I try to keep abreast of any coverage that is given to the disaster despite finding it difficult to consume. The last thing that I would want to do is belittle people’s memories by inviting scrutiny of the BBC’s output on the subject (or any other media outlet’s reporting for that matter) for the sake of petty point scoring or dare I say it, a cheap laugh.

I merely sought to point out that any interaction between the BBC and anyone directly connected to Rangers contained in the essay was conspicuous by its absence. If I’ve inadvertently been disrespectful through bringing this up on the thread, then please accept my apologies.

I note former English Premiership and Sellik supporting Referee, Dermot Gallagher has decreed the Hagi/Newell incident, no penalty. Further, given Newell's clutch of his face whilst throwing himself to the ground and clearly no contact, Gallagher suggests a caution to Newell.

Again, the Bully Michael Stewart shouting, "that's a penalty all day' twice on Sportscene, needs to be readdressed.

Picking myself up after being laid prone by an errant plume from a living room cushion whilst availing myself of Dermot’s latest observations, I managed to steel myself sufficiently in order to read Andrew Picken’s accompanying essay to PQ’s documentary on the Ibrox Disaster hosted on the BBC News homepage.

It seems from my cursory exposure to Picken’s treatment of the subject, by way of said essay, is that no Rangers FC employee or Rangers inclined supporter is afforded an input to the investigative discourse. Contrast this with the unquestionable humanity imbued with any mention of our separated brethren that transcends any tribal triviality.

Did the televisual offering achieve a balanced view? I’m not sure that my blood pressure could take it were I to find out for myself.

Of course, solidarity from the News and Current Affairs department can be counted upon; or am I reaching all too conveniently for a tin foil head covering?

    Mmmm.

Thanks to you and Ian for posting this. I’ve been quite pensive this evening about how strange this Christmas time has been, but after seeing this and watching the lads having a giggle, it has helped me drag myself out of my ambivalent stupor.

Merry Christmas Gersnet brothers and sisters - I hope you all have a great day!

    Entitlement.

"Entitlement" has become one of Stuart Cosgrove's favourite words. These last few weeks there has been a running battle on BBC Radio Shortbread over the exposure and specifics of National Clinical Director, Jason Leitch's proclamations. Aberdeen's owner, Dave Cormack has criticised the Scottish Government and it's handling of Covid arrangements and Scottish football. He feels there should be a graduated scheme to allow more fans into games in lower tier areas. Further, BBC Radio Shortbread should take the weekly questioning out of the hands of Cosgrove and Cowan, and place it into the hands of the more serious minded on Sportsound.

Cosgrove is raging and wonders aloud what entitles Cormack, "who lives in Atlanta, Georgia" to tell us how to conduct our affairs. Cosgrove also offers, "Off the Ball is not Newsnight". Well, quite. DrStu' is obsessed where folks live, he wanted national coaches, Gordon Strachan and Alex McLeish sacked because they would not leave, "their big hooses in Basingstoke and Fulham". Steve Clarkes big hoose is okay though. Of course, Cosgrove has a property portfolio that would choke the proverbial, four properties in three different countries. Oh, and DrStu's big literary hero, Irving Welsh splits his time between Chicago and New York.

What about Cosgrove's entitlement? Only two weeks past he told us, "ah've no missed a minute of St Johnstone's football this season". Well, when PQ send him and Tam to Fir Park to cover the 'Well/Saints game for Open all Mikes, or when he sits there after his Saturday/Sunday shows and watches live coverage coming into the studios, or even better; like last night when he has no broadcast duties and he goes in just to watch his team in League Cup action at Dunfermline. Entitlement by the endeavours of BBC Scotland engineers.

Approaching his seventieth year, Cosgrove is one very entitled person. Your ordinary BBC Scotland license fee paying Rangers supporter is not allowed to pitch up at PQ to watch their team live on a monitor. In fact, compare and contrast what Cosgrove receives for his license fee and what is received by your average license fee paying Rangers supporter? DrStu' the very entitled establishment man. Next, he'll be lunching at Gamba with Neil Doncaster?

Presumably, the gambas on the menu won’t be of the Sinhalese variety. We wouldn’t want Dr Stu to choke on his lunch or dinner now would we?

  14. Conditioning.

    Now there’s a word.

‘Your grandchildren will all be Celtic fans’ was once the triumphant proclamation from the green ‘n’ grey hooped horrors. PQ have done their bit to promulgate this overly ambitious prediction of the future by trying to omit Rangers from public consciousness as far as a lack of adherence to the charter will allow. Someone, somewhere has adopted a mindset something akin to the caption on a cartoon which once adorned Chuck Colson’s office wall during his tenure as special counsel to Richard Nixon.

Unfortunately for the budding BBC social engineer, they never truly had us by the balls so our hearts and minds never had a snowball’s chance in hell of following.

    And they never will.

Fair enough. I guess we will find out sooner rather than later. I’m curious as to when an announcement will be made as it may well point us in a certain direction as to how feasible #NeverAgain is going forward.
